Words have different meanings and connotations in different countries, they can be used differently in one country to the next, and they change over time as well Just let people use which word they want for it. What’s wrong with educating ourselves a bit about it? Or do you mean like in the vein of...

It’s not a joke I started here. Your answer is ill-conceived for me.

A key difference between autism and ADHD is that ADHD can be actively helped with medication. ADHD medication helps with the core symptoms of ADHD, and ADHD is actually the most effectively treated psychological disorder. Whereas with autism, medication can help with sensory overload in some instan...

Thank you so far for all the new input, new to me, so I am still learning new stuff about our condition or the autistic human condition. I also sort of got int ouch with autism-influencers on Instagram...and sometimes, I must admit, it is getting on my nerves...this toxic positivism in slogans like ...

Isn't the severity level supposed to at least partly address this issue? How? Does it? Does it not polarise and alienate ‘low-functioning duties’ from the community. High functioning in my opinion is more and more used as an excuse to the NTs to tell them that we are not ’the ret*d’ they think we a...

It does seem imprecise.

I don't think I would equate Level 3 to "ret*d" but rather "disabled."

Aspergers has only been removed from the DSM, not the ICD (its F84.5) so its still a valid diagnosis. Just putting that out there. I am not a native English speaker..so I am not always familiar with the acronyms here. What is DSM and ICD. I will also post here to you what I replied with in another ...

Aspergers has only been removed from the DSM, not the ICD (its F84.5) so its still a valid diagnosis. Just putting that out there. I don’t think so...the labels is not something we create ourselves, it comes from the medical world, and we only get to choose from it. So, what a choice we have to eit...

It tries to, but it doesn't - Its largely useless, because is vague, it treats ability levels as static when they aren't, and its subjective, rather than objective. Another problem the labeling system has it that it treats the autism spectrum as if it were linear - its not. Another case of trying t...

The Asperger's label was taken out of the autism criteria because every autism case is sooooooooo different from one another that nobody is high-functioning or low-functioning, just autistic, nothing more, nothing less. So the boy I used to know who was non-verbal and locked in his own world in any...

The Problem With Labels In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association revised the diagnostic criteria for autism. This greatly broadened the spectrum. It now ranges from brilliant scientists, artists, and musicians to an individual who cannot dress himself or herself. Over the years, the diagnostic ...

It’s been ges since I was here, but so much more time I spent on social media like Instagram. There I find loads of auto(influencers?) with arguments to convince to stop using the label Asperger of high functioning..as it seems to want to stand out above the ‘low-functioning’ duties because it is po...

To your sister, of course :) Impossible, we live miles apart, and I have fallen out again with her, on Facebook, exactly over me trying to tell her to saty away from cigarettes and alcohol because it makes her more vulnerable to infection of Corona. And that tip I gave her, she regards this as a cr...

Thanks, yes, you opened up a can of worms here... Oh no, cans of worms are not usually a good thing. They are usually only good if you are a fisherman. I hope it is not causing you problems. nO, the only problems is that, I get sucked in deeper into this them of trying to understand what triggers o...
