I get nervous, because I'm afraid I won't like the gifts, and I'm unable to look like I do, thereby insulting people. On top of that, people opening gifts tend to be at the center of attention, which is uncomfortable place to be in the first place. Prefer not to get gifts for that reason. Don't know...

I have wondered about this as well. But I guess it's important to realize teachers are just people too. They may have taken a big responsibility, but they're still just people. Relate to this a lot. When I feel like I have to give my opinion on something it's usually trouble.
