Quite the reverse here - I seem to have a morbid fear of ignoring anybody, so as long as I can hear them, I always try to respond. If two people talk to me at the same time, I hate it. I rarely answer the door when somebody knocks (unless I know and trust the caller), but if I get the idea that the ...

It's a daily struggle to connected to my husband, and to be honest, it takes a lot of work on both our parts. I think partners are usually the hardest of all people to stay connected to, though they should be the easiest. Anybody else, you get breathing space. The commitment is lighter, the stakes ...

I used to hate them, but once I became a father it all changed completely. It's said to be like that for most men, though I gather that women usually just like babies all the time. Not that it didn't give me problems - the worst one was coming to terms with the loss of individual freedom and space. ...

I don't want to dampen your spirits, but I've lived through a recession before and didn't notice any good side at all. The poor suffered even more poverty which embittered them and caused them to snatch from each other. It's called a depression for a good reason - that's what it does to most folks. ...

Yes I get lonely, and like some of you, it can be worse in a crowd. People with whom I feel no bonds just get in the way and remind me of the heartbreaking space that exists between most of us. :( But then I do live in a city.

I guess with the NT ones, they found out I was a full-time college student--and, thus, unemployed.

Are you saying they were more interested in the salary than the man?
You're joking, surely? 8O

Just let me do the job... If only! Prejudice runs very deeply where I live My experience suggests that homogenous societies are the worst in that respect. I guess when everybody's different, it's hard to label anybody as "not quite right." That people could just be nice to each other because...

That's certainly a big part of my desire for a DX. It's as if I have an obsessional idea that the world sees me as a hypochondriac. Bad enough if it's back pain, when at least I know myself that it's real. With AS, who the hell knows? I'm a clever guy. Unconsciously I might just have ticked "can't" ...

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the difference between those who are happy with self-dx's and those who seem only to accept an official dx. I crave a fixed diagnosis, because it feels so hard to deal with something that may or may not be there. But I've heard that there's no such thing as certai...

I am very good at mimicking others, even NTs I do that too. Often using a line from a TV programme or movie. Trouble is, it's not always turned out to be the right thing to say. But one experience made me wonder - a friend had mentioned a guy who he said had acted like a pain in the butt by turning...

I find the social lubricant effect of alcohol a double-edged sword - it's great in I don't overdo it, then it's a case of "what's on a sober man's mind is on a drunken man's tongue" - pathological honesty doesn't go down very well in mainstream society. Last time I did that, I alienated a good frien...

It's like I'm being confrontational for the sake of being confrontational I think that's what they call being human, Mishi_Sings. I think you'll find a lot of us here have had the same kind of bad experiences as you have. Definitely I've lost touch with Web friends, I think sometimes for trying to ...

at one moment there is some woman and in the next moment there is another one, but i cannot figure out whether it is a different one or the one from before . Face recognition is hard for me too. I prefer films with just a few characters. It's the passivity I can't cope with. I couldn't fathom a fic...

some guy said "quit being so asspie" May as well tell you to quit breathing - looks like you picked the wrong company. Give him a chance to mend his dismissive antisocial ways, and if he doesn't sort himself out, shun him. Yes the name Aspie could get turned derogatory on a bigger scale at some sta...

I love it and hate it :? I haven't driven for many years. When I did, I got very confident on the routine 5-mile drive to and from work. Had a good coach while learning, did that route every day with her, for months, before my test - as we worked at the same place and lived near each other, it was a...

Is anyone else like this? Do you have to consciously make yourself pay attention to what people are saying in movies? I have a tough time with that. Mostly I just can't focus on the plot, I find my mind just starts thnking about something else. Sometmes it's the film details but usually it's my own...
