I was about half and half. I never consciously decided to isolate myself, and always started to feel lonely if I had to be alone for a long time, but wasn't fazed by a few hours of working on a project. I didn't feel unpopular and wasn't really non-social as a kid. If somebody was willing to play or...

I remembered this comment you made in another thread a while back. It seems relevant to the current discussion. I very rarely benefit from trigger warnings myself, so it's hard for me to appreciate the circumstances in which another person might find one useful. https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewt...

Very. Probably the most triggering one I've ever seen. Needs excellent people skills to discuss it without doing more harm than good. Those are very rare. I think everybody made mistakes, self included. People's experiences in such debates are very different.

That would be the notorious "Fokker tri-plane" flown by the notorious "Red Baron" of Germany in the first WW. But it only has two wings. So its only a 'biplane'. So its a failed depiction of the plane that they are trying to depict. Yes but I don't like triplanes. No disrespect ...

When talking about sexual abuse, people need to be able to engage in the topic without victim blaming or dismissive or otherwise hurtful commentary. Most often, folks try to inform individuals who engage in those behaviors, and when no progress is made, frustration or simply trying a different tact...

Different people will have different ideas about each case though. Some people will think that a person went too far while others will think that it was perfectly understandable all things considered. When a person doesn’t respond to excellent points an individual has raised and complains about mil...

I remember our teacher announcing one day that we "recommend that you stop watching the Three Stooges on TV" because it encouraged little kids to ...hit each other over the head with hammers and what not. Good job I never saw it. As a very young kid, I enjoyed punch-ups on TV and saw that...

Tone policing must be one of those terms being used in a way the word gas lighting is used or bullying and I have seen controlling men use the term "boundary" to describe their controlling behavior by calling them boundaries they set. Their boundaries are what women should wear, whom they...

After a few episodes of Batman on TV, they started to precede it with a warning: " Robin and I want you to know that we have no wings, no superhuman powers. We cannot fly. Don't try. " It ended with Robin saying " Holy broken bones! " So they feared some kids might come a cropper...

How often do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep? Occasionally. Sometimes I can't fall asleep in the first place for ages. Usually it's because my mind won't be quiet, but it can be hunger, lack of exercise, or inability to get physically comfortable. Also I tend to flog my intellect whil...

My worry is that America, because it isn't helping Israel out of the goodness of its heart, won't get seriously tough until it perceives severe problems for itself if it doesn't. Meanwhile the UK intends to do nothing about it. Probably because Washington has told them not to. It doesn't much matter...

To paraphrase Friedrich Nietzsche: "That which does not destroy me has made a grave tactical error." I like that. For some reason you've said a number of things lately that I've strongly related to. Nobody has completely destroyed my life so far. The nearest to that was when my estranged ...

If people insist on making demands, they can help by explaining the "how to" of it, when it's not blindingly obvious. If I don't know how, I can't meet their demands. I'm not a great believer in taking on a lot of additional discomfort just to please others. I can be quite generous towards...

That's the one. 8) Good to see he broke the spirit of their unnecessary regulations a second time and that the control freaks were replaced. In a small way he made America great again. If I were less self-centred I'd probably try harder to empathise with the control freaks and look into the psycholo...
