I'll have to try that to see if I can pick up the BBC. How does that work? If you go here without a VPN: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/curation:m001q1d9/m0026l4m then you should be able to play that from anywhere in the world. But if you go here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio...

^ Yes that includes the UK so it would be possible to access the BBC material that's restricted to UK IP addresses, assuming the BBC doesn't see through the trick. You're right that the 3 (or whatever) servers in the free version of Proton are the available countries they'll let you have for nothing...

Ah, but it's the principle of the thing. If it moves, download a personal copy before some bastard removes it from cyberspace. I've got complete collections of things I don't even like. But I'm rather proud of a clip of Captain Pugwash saying "I most certainly do, Master Bate." Can't find ...

We must have a lot of lurkers on WP, in that case. Despite the slightly pejorative tang to the word "lurker," I'm beginning to think they're a superior species to myself. They keep their mouths shut until they know what they're talking about. I manage that myself sometimes, but not always...

No such thing here yet AFAIK. If I have a question I usually ask ChatGPT. It's not 100% reliable but it does the job at least as effectively as most real people do, and it's very quick.

I can't find a smilie that does blink. I thought the rolling eyes one might move a bit but it seems quite static here. Does anybody see blinking smilies? I've sometimes seen blinking, animated, or otherwise distracting avatars though. If I find one that gets on my nerves, rather than turn all avatar...

I know it's the 2013 remaster, but the recording itself is 60s.

That's about right as far as I can tell.

Yes that's rather poor. Might be better to use streaming websites with a download manager, and choose something like 480p, if the free VPN allows such things. Still not great though. Looks like a case of the more you pays, the more you gets.

These guys reckon Windscribe is the best free VPN for torrenting: https://www.top10vpn.com/best-vpn/free-torrenting-vpn/#windscribe Trouble with all these things is that you can never be absolutely sure of privacy, and pretty much all reviewing sites have some kind of disclaimer saying you could sti...

One thing I hate is when the media, gov, or business leaders talk about "asking" people to pay more or to do this or that, when what they're actually doing is forcing them. We're "asked" to pay more tax, higher prices, work longer hours, but they don't give us any choice.

I've got very little direct experience with them, but I'm interested in getting a good one eventually. Depends on what you want to do with it. Here's a summary of the pros and cons of some free VPNs: https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-free-vpns One thing they don't go into is how well they manage ...

Moderately heavy snow in Arkansas last night. Hoping it'll thaw soon. No further snow forecast, temperatures will be getting above freezing point during the next few afternoons, and we should have a bit of sunshine here and there. Main roads seem to be clear enough if you can get out onto them. Not ...

"According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), all meats obtained from mammals (regardless of cut or age) are red meats because they contain more myoglobin, which gives them their red color, than fish or white meat (but not necessarily dark meat) from chicken. The USDA also ...
