I felt an empty mood on xmas. Everyone was cracking jokes and laughing and I didn't laugh at one of them because I can't concentrate on what people are saying. I would have to ask "can you say that again and again?" Is this typical AS trait because this always happens to me and if I do get it, I us...

When I was young, I was a railroad freak. Mostly subways and electric railway lines. I love high speed electrics.

Why do I feel so empty? I can't get it. Is this depression? Or lack of motivation? I dont' know. I just sit in home for the entire day - doing nothing. All my interests are blurred and blank... my mind is blank. I can not sense anything. No joy or happiness... Not even anxiety or irritation... It's...

I've decided I'm not a person with Asperger's anymore. I paid the big bucks, took the tests, answered a barn full of questions, got the diagnosis, got the "piece of paper". I thought I would understand more- that my life would somehow make more sense. And for a few brief seconds it did. The fact is...

Dad has some AS traits, Mom is pretty NT, shes pretty tollerant for things "abnormal" but yea still NT. Ditto. That pretty well discribes my situation. My mom was an NT neurotic. There was schizophrenia on my mom's side and I had an aunt who had to be institutionalized for schizophrenia. My dad mig...

My whole childhood. I can grok that. I was a kid back in the early forties and the term "nerd" had not yet been invented. But I was a nerd for sure. Later on I found that I could not "read between the lines" very well and I was extremely literal-minded. No one ever heard of Aspergers Syndrome back ...

I was 10 years old when WW2 ended. I wanted to be a bomb aimer on a B-17 or a B-29.

When I was older I wanted to be a mercenary soldier.

I ended up doing applied mathematics and software, because I was not physically fit for military duty (asthma). Damn!

Does anyone here currently have an obsession with any branch or topic in Mathematics? My current obsession is with Set Theory of Discrete Mathematics. I am also reading a delightful book called "How Mathematicians Think" by William Byers. I have already read about 1/6th of the book and I'm enjoying...
