'getting taken the piss out of' For the non-British on this site, could you tell us what this means? :) Taking the p*ss out of someone - Making fun of someone Yeah, my husband says that. (He's British, I'm American). Another, less crude, version is "Taking the Mickey". He says that one around the k...

If you don't like the heat, I highly recommend scheduling your Florida trip for sometime like January or February. Florida summers are long and brutal. A few weeks ago, I took a short trip to New York City, all my myself. I flew all the way from California to see my favorite actor in a play. It's no...

When I was a teenager I made it my special interest to have friends, so I made it NT's my main interest of study. Then I chose the hippest group as a challenge, decided to fit in. WHOA!, what a trip it was, but I somehow succeded. I remember coming to a conclusion about your answer, and it was just...

Well, "sustained" means that you can keep it up over a period of time. So sustained attention means to be able to pay attention, not just for a few minutes, but for, say, an entire university lecture, or something like that.

I'm thinking of three things at once. 1. FOOD. I just went and picked up pizza for the rest of my family. It smells so good, but I can't eat gluten (unless I want dizziness and rectal bleeding :eew: the next day ) , so I couldn't have any of it. I'm starving, and we have NOTHING in the house that's ...

I've made a couple of stop motion animated movies out of Lego. I don't think mine really would appeal to a general audience, because my sense of humor is kind of strange, and I made them for my own enjoyment (not for an "audience"). But when I was working on them, doing the animating gave me a feel ...

Avoidance is my middle name. lol. I wish I could avoid. Once you hit middle age people tend to stop bothering you about not socializing. You've already "failed" so they leave you alone. That's my experience anyway. Ha ha! It's funny because it's true! I can't remember the last time someone ...

This felt uncomfortably like these were actors trying to portray stereotypes. Perhaps they weren't, but that's how it seemed to me. I don't know many people with AS, simply because I don't know many people full stop. These people seemed to have a kind of bewildered quality, which I don't see in my s...

I'm not on Facebook. I don't think I'd like it. A couple of times in the past few years, I've had something that I wanted to share with the handful of people I know. The first time was two years ago when I made a Lego stop-motion movie which I was very proud of. The second time was when I wanted to ...

I've noticed that a lot of mothers do little controlling things where they think their kids may need help. Yes, you are 18, but if your mother is anything like I am with my own kids, she sees you as 2, 5, 10, 15, AND 18 years old, all at once, because she's got your whole lifetime and development fr...

First of all, let me make it very clear that I adore both of my children. I have an NT 9 year old and a 13 year old, pre-pubescent son with AS and ADHD. I'm going to say a lot of negative stuff in this post, because I need to vent, but I really do love them both and enjoy their company much of the t...

I was just watching "The Italian Job" (1969), and it made me think of Cockney Rebel. :)

I have a problem with artificial scents as well. One interesting thing, though. I've mentioned on WP before that when I stopped taking birth control pills (which I'd been taking for years), it ended a lot of the symptoms that I had thought might be AS or ADD. One of those symptoms was an extreme sen...

Another Marie here. I only know one person with the first name "Marie", but many people have that as a middle name, it seems.
