well, I guess there's a 'split' in the church of WP. These things take time to play out but I remain unconvinced by any arguments here. The only NT post I sorta liked was the one about how they can understand how black people didn't want white people around in the early days of black power and that ... |

I don't think people realise (especially the complaining NTs here) why sites like this came into being. 10 years ago there were no support sites on the net for autistic adults. There were however, support sites for parents and families at which autistics were not welcome or barely tolerated. The inc... |

I'm tired of being reminded of my difference, not that people necessarily go out of their way to make me feel different, but I feel it. I'm a semi recluse for my own protection too. The problems with it are it can be unstimulating and you don't have any help when you need it. On a good day it's grea... |

hmm interesting. you should think about winning the lottery and see what happens. the hot water is the weirdest one. sometimes i think that information is just 'in the air' and you can pick it up if you are sensitive, but that doesn't account for being able to make water boil just with your mind. yo... |

here's the Australian story, seems it's Therese Rein's bro who has autism, not Kevv's bro. ------------ A SMALL centre for autistic children on Brisbane's northside may have won a visit from Kevin Rudd in a charity auction, but the Prime Minister showed yesterday that he is highly sensitive to autis... |

I see this as a dress rehearsal for an actual dangerous pandemic. Going into crisis mode over a flu that is apparently less deadly than the annual influenza looks over-reactive. Going into anti-vaccine crisis mode over a vaccine which is apparently no different in kind, availability or level of enf... |

I've had kids in the supermarket checkout queue gaze at me from their perch in the trolley and ask their mother "Mummy, is that the Queen?" referring to lil ole me. I tend to joke it off, like my response was "The queen of what?" to which they replied 'ummmm....everything?" so.... One time I babysat... |

yeah, children gravitate towards autistic adults too, i'm a 'kiddy magnet', they think i'm a magical person, so i have to reject their interest and hose down their ideas about me, as I know it will all go horribly wrong if i encourage them. i'm a woman so i'm not usually suspected of anything untowa... |

It's rather like Michael Jackson, or Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), while I can understand why some adults enjoy the company of children, clearly you are easily set up in these situations and you would be better off having nothing to do with children or their parents. If you continue to seek out c... |

These days the only people who attempt to befriend me are sociopaths or doorknocking evangelists who want me to join a closed community. I'm a christian so it's not the christianity I object to. |

There some stories to that effect in gnostic apocryphal texts (the Nag Hammadi). It's a while since I read it but basically a woman/eve/daughter figure (I forget what they call her, Barbelo maybe?) takes it upon herself to create life without gods knowledge or permission and it doesn't turn out wel... |

I'm of the 'don't live together' school of thought. I'm not a couple and probably never will be but if I was, that's what I'd do. I just can't be around people and language 24/7, it's exhausting. |
