But I do not think it has ANYTHING to do with Autistic Spectrum Disorders...I think it is directly tied to pov problems... if something is so far outside someone's own frame of reference, they are unable to conceptualize it or understand it... That lack of understanding causes cognitive dissonance....

I feel like when I go and see family memebers I have to pretend to be happy. I feel like if I let them know that I'm lonely and unhappy then they will blame me. Same here. That's why I moved out because my mom would scold me every time I looked sad/depressed to her. I think parents have a hard time...

You CAN talk to her about how getting all anxious over something impedes your ability to do as well as you are capable of doing. That's a good, sound, logical, Aspie-friendly reason to work on anxiety. You CAN remind her that her brain is prone to run like a hamster in a wheel on the subject of fea...

I'm NT and I've been with my HFA husband for a few years and I find the Cassandra concept REALLY helpful. The parts of me that are pure NT and to which my husband doesn't sympathize are parts of me that I neglected for too long .... like, I'm naturally a person who cares too much about what other p...

Is anyone in or know of a Couple were both of them have aspergers? and do you think aspie couples work out ok? Me and my husband. we've been together for 6 years this year. We're quite different but we complement each other very well. It depends on quirks. One person may be a very clean person and ...

what I really miss is a good comedy with _realistic_ and _relatable_ Aspie characters, whose personality is not a mere sum of diagnostic criteria.

I have considered approaching women in group settings, like birthday parties, workplace parties, but usually they already have male friends and acquaintances there so my social awkwardness stands out like a fox in a henhouse and even having friendly conversations with them doesn´t lead anywhere. I ...

...in a Central European (former Soviet bloc) country? I have a small group of adult Aspies, most of them have been diagnosed as adults. We would like to start an advocacy group which primarily targets the needs of high-functioning adult Aspies, but will also represent the needs of the entire autist...

I just watched Mozart and the Whale last night, along with Mary and Max. Can anyone please let me know if you felt that these characters were fair representations of people with Asperger's? I came off feeling that many of the characters' symptoms were exaggerated stereotypes/caricatures and/or drew...

After reciting my quotations, and possibly impressing him, my doctor asked if I thought I was intelligent. I did not know how to answer. After my pause over the uncertainty of the question, he further said my brain is like a computer and we don't think computers are intelligent or do we ? What a pr...

Instead of revealing our true preferences and applying them, we yearn for those members of the opposite sex who are presented as attractive by the media, or who are considered to be attractive in our social mi...

Nowadays, I'm reconsidering whether or not I identify as a feminist due to some of feminism's failures to be intersectional. Oftentimes, the more privileged women would silence the voices of the less privileged women (e.g. Women of Color, transwomen, etc.). I had different experiences. After I star...

I've identified as a feminist for a while (I don't think that women are superior to men or anything like that), but I am curious about the Men's Rights Movement. So far, I know that it brings up the issue of men being raped, men not having sufficient counseling for domestic abuse, and men not havin...
