Apologies for not responding sooner than now. Jay is out of danger, but not totally out of the woods right now. He still has a body rash, but is being given steriods to help in clearing that up. His feet are terribly sensative and swollen, as are his hands/fingers, which makes communication somewhat...

Oh, Jon. That is horrible! A parent's worse nightmare. Thank God you got him there in time. BeeBee I am grateful that we did get him there in time..... But there's a part of me that can't help but to think of what could have happened. I have visions of his tiny body lying in a casket. It's a horrib...

I had the scare of a lifetime today, and am still pretty shaken up over it. Jay, my 4 year old son, woke this morning with a head to toe body rash that was quite painful. By mid afternoon, he was complaining of joint pain, and his skin was ultra-sensative, so much so that he peeled off all his cloth...

I'm weeping over Scribe's post. That is the saddest thing I've ever read. No Rain by Blind Melon All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two and speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane I just wan...

DancesWithDemons I know how it feels I lost a cousin this Year in April 05. Many in the family are still dealing with it. Many still are questioning why. He suffered with major depression even I still myself suffer also with major depression. He might not had AS like I do. But I know he will be mis...

On November 6, 2004, my brother Tom was found hanging from a tree at Peidmont Park in downtown Atlanta. At 39, everyone thought that he had everything together. He seemed, outwardly, to be doing fine. Tom, like myself, suffered with AS, yet he seemed to have a better handle on things. As a family, a...

My post wasn't intended to be offensive, and apologies are offered if it was taken that way. I was merely attempting to draw a parallel as to how Aspergers would be used in the defense limelight, much as postpartum depression has been in the past. What I wasn't trying to say was that Will's life was...

I'm going to be entering college in January '06, and I'm pretty apprehensive about the whole situation. As if having AS weren't enough to deal with, I'm also a "non-traditional student" in that I'm in my mid 30's. The idea of having a DF may be an appealing one to some, but I personally would rather...

Cool! Use ASL? Combined voice and sign in the home. I received a CI in 1995, though did not choose that for my child. I want him to be able to make that decision for himself as he matures. As of now, he communicates only with sign. (He's 4 years old.) P.S. Choosing a CI is a decision I regret. It d...

Will Fruend probably did himself and us a favor when he commited suicide. Can you imagine how he would've been treated by the judicial system, attornies, fellow inmates, and the media? You just think the backlash against those of us who live with AS on a daily basis is bad now. There's not a one amo...

What is your first name? Jon Age: Mid 30's Location: Tennessee Hobbies and Interests: I spend copious amounts of time on the internet. I don't like being around other people, so my activities are essentially limited to doing things alone, such as camping or fishing. Why are you here? I read about th...

The Will Fruend saga, though a sad one, has had some good come from it. I was diagnosed with AS 12 years ago. My relatives were hush-hush about it, and made more than one attempt to sweep it under the rug. It was something that just wasn't discussed around the house. I've struggled for years to find...
