Over the past year I've been doing research on ASD and I seem to fit all the criteria. However I'm not sure on high sensitivity. All stories I've heard have the aspie feeling physical pain but I've never experienced this. Since Autism is a spectrum disorder, it's really foolish to think any "s...

This may have nothing to do with Autism, but I don't know. My dad died a couple months ago, and the time since has been "wonderful" by comparison to when he was alive. I think I should feel horrible about feeling this way, but I don't...except I do feel conflicted by the lack of compassion...

Honestly, I think most places (even the better ones) try to keep everyone down unless they are a "superstar" or "connected." It saves money. Most every place tries to get you to do ever more for less. Doing more than what is expected of you is "going above and beyond." ...

I'm not following the situation 100 percent. However, if I was in a similar position (told I was going to earn X then got paperwork saying X-Y), I'd not turn my nose up at the job, but I'd make a call/visit to the head of HR (or someone higher than who is dealing with me on the contract) and raise m...

A typical "decent" employer will wait up to two weeks so you can provide your current employer notice. Some may need you to start "now" for legitimate reasons, but they'll be up-front about their need and still be willing to work with you.

I think the general consensus last time was "don't". That's the consensus every time it seems to come up. Up front disclosure is good ONLY when your condition is fairly obvious. It lets the interviewer know why you are so "odd" rather than let them imagine why you aren't like ot...

A guy in college once said to me, "Everyone should spend at least two years serving in the military...if only to learn how to stick with a job they hate." Sound advice. 8) Life makes you do things you don't always like. Learning to tough it out is critical because often your time in those ...

I see it this way.... 1. There are virtually no Autism diagnosticians for adult males in most of the USA. Maybe you're lucky to find ONE in a major metropolitan area. Everything is geared to kids and teens. After 18, you're on your own. 2. Many areas of medicine are often more guess work than scienc...

Do you have sensory issues? I'd think that would be distinct to Autism rather than PTSD. Of course, I'd not be surprised if many with Autism have PTSD issues from growing up Autistic.

I hold to the belief that age discrimination starts at 30. It's the age by which most employers expect to see some accomplishment in a candidate's professional life. By 40, the phenomenon is noticeable to those with unremarkable work histories. By 50, one could be virtually unemployable...especially...

I don't think there's anything you can do. There are people I care for and even "love" to some extent, but "romantic" love is very short-lived. I just don't maintain those types of feelings long enough to form that type of relationship. I could simulate romantic behavior, but it'...

I've had iPhones for years. Always bought them used either from someone else or off of a site like Swappa. I never want the "cheap" model with the minimum amount of storage. My iPhone7 is top of the line because the massive memory forced Apple to use a faster processor. So, it works better...

Do you ever consider you may be selectively looking for facts to prove ASD/NVLD to yourself, and ignoring contrary evidence ? I do wonder, personally speaking, whether it's about the need to find something that explains how and who you are. I, for one, try NOT to selectively look for factors that le...
