Does anyone else experience extreme disconnectedness sometimes, yet at the same time wanting to access strong emotions but being unable to? I'm left with a sort of agitated heaviness in my body and I want some sort of release from it. The thing is I don't know whether I want to cry or get angry or w...

Thanks for your replies. I had a migraine all night and I still feel ill today after seeing my friend yesterday. I'm glad it isn't just me who can't cope.

I have suspected AS, my son is severely autistic, my father and uncle both have strong AS traits. I think even my mother has traits in fact,

My ex (son's dad) is also suspected AS and most of his family beat to a different drum.

So yes I'd say it's got a strong genetic link.

Does anyone else find being around really outgoing people totally exhausting? I saw a NT friend of mine today who I don't meet up with that often. I like her and she's one of the few people I can relate to, but she's so bubbly and loud that having a long conversation with her makes me feel physicall...

I think in pictures, but struggle with remembering faces. Normally I make a mental note to myself that someone has a certain hairstyle, eyes, nose, spot on chin etc, as that helps jog my memory.

I have a milder face blindness where I find it very difficult to remember any person's face, although generally speaking I would recognise the person if I saw them. It seems to be more of a problem with visualisation that I have, but it is perhaps on the same spectrum? I have no issues with touch, i...

Does anyone else have a tendency to repeat conversations you had with somebody out loud to yourself? I do this especially when I said something particularly funny or impressive. I like to go over and over it by myself and usually pace around the room as I say it. Another thing I do is make up conver...

Thanks for your advice guys. I finally did tell him we're just friends. I made it very clear that things just weren't ever going to happen between us. He was ok - obviously upset - but he took it well. I've yet to see whether we will actually stay friends but he said he wanted to. He obviously needs...

Ok this is a bit of a vent. I am so angry.... Is it just NTs that lump people into catagories and judge people in relation to that catagory? For example, they see social workers as incompetent, uncaring idiots, when the reality is that there are some extremely nice, caring, supportive social workers...

I was wondering how you go about getting a diagnosis of AS? I'm not totally sure I want to try, but I'm interested to find out anyway. I live in the UK. I know my GP is the first port of call but would he then refer to a psychiatrist or psychologist, or someone else? Thanks.

Yes you've hit the nail on the head precisely with what my issue is. I have a very strong sense of justice and fairness and I simply can't work out why people have to go through such terrible things and suffer so much. I'm always trying to reason it, and find a purpose for it, when perhaps there jus...

Yes, these things are irritating because it's tedious to explain every little aspect of what you're doing. I find it's easier to get things done when I don't have to explain what I'm doing to anyone. I don't talk about my work with anyone who can't do something with it because it's as tedious for m...
