I stim when I'm in emotional overload or in incredibly uncomfortable situations. I usually offer sympathy by telling people how things could be worse. When I say it seriously, it usally doesn't go over well, but if I present it as a joke, people will often laugh. I don't really understand this reaction. Thinking how things could be worse often makes me feel better. But whatever....
