Thanks everyone for all your replies. I know my parents signed my brother up for Medicaid and disability income.
Thank you KingdomofRats for your lengthy reply. I hope you do well where you are. We hope to find a community home for my brother, but there are not many available. |

I have found the golden rule is the most common way I get into trouble socially. I have discovered that many people do not like it if I treat them the way I want to be treated. Is this common for aspies?

My brother has been living with my parents. He is in his 40's and I know that eventually they will pass away and he will need a place to live. He is severely autistic, non-verbal, and can get violent if he does not get his way. He only understands approx. 20 words and speaks fewer than that. Where i...

My pregnancy was fine. I felt good and did not have morning sickness. I took prenatal classes and practiced daily for over two months. I learned how to relax every muscle in my body during a contraction and not get uterine cramps during labor. My husband took a picture of me in transition during a c...

I am hypothyroid and I need to lose some weight. One problem is that I have a problem with hunger pains. I feel weak and sick if I am too late for a meal. Years ago I had a thyroid crisis and I think part of it may be emotional. If you have never had a thyroid crisis, you don't know how it feels. It...

Interesting. For me it is just poultry. I can eat beef, pork, venison, and fish. Anything containing a trace of poultry makes me sick for three days. I get severe diarrhea. I did vomit once and that time I was so sick the whites of my eyes turned yellow.

I don't get along well with people who are choleric in temperament. I also cannot get along with people who expect you to read their mind. They expect me to act like a NT and I don't know how.

My last labor was 33 hours. I have heard of a hospital making someone go three days without eating. I also did think that the nurse would take the food away from you against your will. I did not want to worry about the food issue. I know someone who got a c-sec because she was not allowed to eat and...

When I started school, the teacher told us that we could be ANYTHING we wanted to be when we grew up. I decided that I wanted to be a horse. It wasn't until I was nearly ten that I decided that was not going to happen. Did any of you have something different from NT's that you wanted to be when you ...

Ever since my thyroid acted up as a result of a prescription drug reaction, I have not been able to go very long without food. If you have never had a thyroid crisis, you don't know how it feels. I never had the glucose tolerance test during pregnancy because I would have to fast. I went to a birth ...

The doppler or doptone is ultrasound. It is just not quite as strong as the sonogram. Have you ever read on the internet about the studies linking prenatal ultrasound with the rise in autism rates?

When I was younger, I was fascinated by things that glow in the dark. Glow-in-the-dark superballs, frisbee, any other items. I always enjoyed them. I also have some glow-in-the-dark icicles for my Christmas tree. I like to look at the stars sometimes and especially enjoy when I can see a lunar eclip...

I have never tried to follow the fashions. When I went to school, I was out regardless of how I dressed. My children are the same way about fashion. They don't want to wear something they hate because it is "in style". We would rather wear what we like, and ignore the styles. My oldest loves ruffles...
