Does he have any sensory issues with his AS? My 9-yo will eat a VERY limited number of foods. We are now working with an OT to introduce new foods. Carrots caused severe gagging, mashed potatoes not quite as much, he was able to hold it in his mouth for 5 seconds before he spit it out. It is going t...

My 9 year old son had to have an emergency appendectomy last week. He was very sick prior to the surgery, and had to undergo IV's, blood being drawn and a CT scan; followed by emergency surgery. Everything turned out fine and he was released from the hospital after 36 hours. He is recovering well, w...

Sorry for the confusion. We initially requested an evaluation in writing in February due to concerns that our sone had AS. The school district denied the evaluation at that time; their response was sent cia certified mail. At every meeting we have requested an evaluation; it is documented, and at ev...

At the end of the third grade year, at the last meeting, the pupil appraiser and spec. ed evaluator agreed that once we got the diagnosis over the summer, we would meet agai... |

Preterm labor at 34 weeks with bedrest from them on. My son was born at 36 weeks after 11 hours, meconium aspirated and had difficulty breathing at birth. Following that he became a huge chunk with no significant problems. He was just diagnosed AS at the age of 9.

I am looking for advice and this may be really long...I apologize in advance. My son is 9 and now in 4th grade. We have known since he was 4 or 5 that he was "different" and "quirky". We just adapted to him and knew what worked and what didn't. Grandparents told us we just needed to discipline him m...

Thank you for your replies. I have been doing more research into this and my dad sent me a great link about an article. Both of these tests are IQ, but the Wechsler one requires the use of language more than the Raven, which requires visualization. This would explain why my son did so much better on...

My son; 9 years old, has had his IQ tested twice through the school. Each time they told me he did well, but not high enough to be in the gifted program. I have asked for the test results and was told that they cannot give them to me. Is this true or am I entitled to any of the tests and results tha...
