I'm an American Aspie male and have lived in three other countries (Liberia, Micronesia and Japan). I had the best times of my life in those places. I didn't know I was Asperger's at the time, just that I was different than my American peers and couldn't really relate to them. I thought it was beca...

I haven't posted here in years (literally) but I stumbled across this article the other day: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/blog/2009/jan/07/autism-test-genius-dirac The article itself is interesting, but I found this paragraph to be particularly intriguing: "When Farmelo spoke to Baron-Cohen abo...

I have about 200 friends, and I don't use one of those stupid friend generators. Those are lame. you can generate friends? Don't bull**** me, I'm betting you have one. A piece of code that generates friend requests. If you have been on Myspace for a couple years, friends just tend to accumulate ove...

I wonder if any other aspie guys had this experience in their teens. I have a suspicion a lot of people thought I was homosexual when I was a teenager. Once when I was 14 a bunch of girls showed me a nude picture of Brad Pitt in a magazine, I strongly feel because they thought I was homosexual. In ...

Interesting video and worth watching, but mostly non-applicable if you are obeying the law. The video seemed to be more for the benefit of people who want to break the law and get away with it. If you have no illegal drugs or items in your car or house, it does not really matter whether the police ...

UCI all the way; it's not even a debate. Academics are one thing, but you need to enjoy college. I went to a school with a great academic program, but its campus life is nonexistant. Don't make the same mistake I made. Go to a school that you'll enjoy outside the classroom, as well as inside the cl...

In a perfect world, one would be able to act themselves and be desirable to be around. However, in reality, it doesn't work. You have to put on a mask to be accepted in this shallow, snobby society - and that goes for all facets of life, not just romance. Quoted for truth. I've spent my entire life...

Ok I've noticed that there are a couple of people on here now who either want to be badasses or have suddenly become them. What is wrong with you people? Why on earth would you want to become something you're not naturally? You are lying to yourselves and everyone else and being foolish and, to my ...

I agree. Trying to be a "badass" when it's not your underlying personality is only going to backfire. And what's going to happen when someone decides to give YOU a beatdown?

This sort of seems like it's just irrational paranoia- I do the same thing sometimes. If you don't want people knowing about your AS, then don't mention it again, and I doubt anyone will be able to connect the dots given how little information you've given to them. And even if someone does figure it...

Before I register for classes, I always use sites like www.ratemyprofessors.com to cherry pick so I have to do as little work as possible. It's worked well for me so far.

In all fairness, he was probably extremely drunk. Why else would he try balancing his checkbook at 2 AM? I don't think he was actively trying to piss you off, at least not in this particular situation.

I'm in a similar position as you- I go to college, have passable social skills, and do alright in my part-time job. I also worry about my future from time to time. But the way I see it, what does worrying really accomplish? Remind yourself that you are in control of your decisions and your destiny a...

It's really difficult to say what would happen because I'd have to know how every personality trait of mine was affected by AS. During my teenage years, I had terrible judgment and often got myself into trouble because of it. However, I didn't get out much at that age (pretty sure that's because of ...

I think Super Bowl parties are relatively easy to handle, at least as parties go. You look perfectly normal when all you do is sit quietly and stare at the TV. Are you acquainted with any of your co-workers from the campus show? It might have been a good idea to go along to the party with one or two...
