Yes and yes: we choose no DX and everyone said that we were crazy. Same experience, what we tried at school district, and sveral year of various therapies didn't help much. We also tried to find better doctors/therapists privately and again it was not success (according to us). So now we have one th...

hi angelbear, i remember you since our sons had very similar behavior. my son just turned 8 and he is in regular class in a private school (no aids). he has weird laughs and i believe that lots of people think he is mentally delayed. he also likes to observe people but not striving for friends. his ...

Hi all,

does anyone have a kid who can do calendar calculation? we recently figured out that our son knows what day of a week will be any date that you give him. His school grades are balanced between math and language ie he is doing ok (noting spectacular) in both of them equally.

I am not visiting this place for a while now since we kind of resolved the problem; nevertheless I decided to leave a post just in case people want to try to solve the same problem. Anyway, if you don't like public school system you may want to try "immigrant" schools. These are basically private sc...

giving too much time to "professionals" to try to do their protocols. we thought there is no harm but it used great amount of energy and 2 years of an important life period until we finaly realized that they have no clue and just employ protocols without thinking. i also think my son picked up some ...

hm either to have the same relationship style or try to find the missing part somewhere else. for example you either both need to be non-demanding people or if one needs lots of emotional support, that one can have a friend that can serve for that purpose. and i agree that big relief comes when you ...

okay, you do realize that you are in a very difficult situation and while it is true that there is no point in life, you would be better with a job and money. now, you may want to try grad school, while it is hard and there is an overproduction of phds, typically it sets you up for less stupid jobs ...

yup, of course the way to deal with the emotion is to talk about it on the forum, away from the child. just wanted to point out that the little girl (your son too) is doing the best she can for herself and that is a great sign. same as you said about the weight issue: acknowledge the problem, try to...

She is not heartbroken but you are, why? It seems that to her, having friends is not that much important as it is for you. . This was one time it DID seem important to the child. I know that friends have always been important to my son, as frustrating as they also are for him. There definitely are ...

I am glad that things are working out but even if she doesn't find a friend now, it is not the end of the world. She has you, the rest of the family at the moment and things do change i.e. one day she'll find a friend. She is too young to be desperate, see this as a temporary challenge that she is s...

I honestly don't know why so many people like Blade Runner; I didn't think it was that good. My all time favorite movie is Repo! The Genetic Opera. Amazing movie, and amazing music. good movies deal with important issues. bladerunner deals with what makes a human. are genetically engineered people ...

IMO: the worst thing one can do for their child is feeling sorry. To be blunt: if you are overweight you wouldn't like people to feel sorry for you. She is not heartbroken but you are, why? It seems that to her, having friends is not that much important as it is for you. Of course, it feels good to ...

SP should make an episode about people trying to discus serious things with teenagers who do not like shows because their mother doesn't like them.
but facebook is more in now (forums are so 2000) so they mocked them. i liked that one.

I agree with you analyser and I do think it can be wrong to insist on "intervention" especially when people do not agree on the direction of it. My experience with "early intervention" that my son had left me in horror. Sadly, lots of the professionals that work with the children have poor analytica...
