I just wanted to post an update for those of you involved in this thread so long ago. After over two years of chronic pain we finally got an accurate diagnosis last November. We found a pediatric GI doctor who did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they found very large numbers of eosinophils, which a...

The thing is-for a year and a half I haven't concerned myself with her falling behind. So I really backed off "requiring" anything. She was uncomfortable with tests so the tutor and I said ok, no tests. She hasn't read any book on her own since 1st grade, when she "lost" her desi...

Here's my old original post: original post My daughter does have OCD type perfectionist thoughts (or she used to). Doing work can be quite difficult still due to her being critical of her work. I'm not sure that's the issue at hand here, though it's possible. Puberty could be causing some of this. A...

Wow, everyone thanks for the responses. It is a lot to process so I'll make a first stab. I'll try to find my post from about a year ago that describes the genesis of our current situation. My daughter was in a small private school until 5th grade and then we tried to move her to public (the private...

I think my teenage daughter, diagnosed with AS, has this PDA (also or instead?). If I am in the US, how do I find info/help? My daughter has been pretty much non functional since Dec 2014 due to anxiety. She has not attended school since May 2015. I need to figure out strategies to help her as no do...

When I pulled her out of school in May 2015, I did dial everything WAY down. I removed all requirements letting her de-stress as much as possible. The problem is, she's just not bouncing back from that. I pay for a tutor 2 hours x day 3 days a week. My daughter loves her and they work well together....

Hello everyone! I haven't posted here in a long time. My daughter, Grace, is now 13 years old. She was diagnosed with AS at age 6. At the beginning of 6th grade she developed extreme anxiety and stomach issues. We are still dealing with both. I took her out of school (by necessity-she wasn't partici...

My daughter also does this and she also blames herself for things that aren't always her fault like you describe. I have always felt she hits herself to 1) express extreme frustration when she has been taught not to hit other people or other things (what else but herself is left?) and 2) to create a...

My daughter is 12 in 7th grade. She has always struggled with reading comprehension. She was an early reader (age 4) and can read college level words. Where she has trouble is recognizing the underlying motives, underlying dynamics, and keeping track of who is which character, how they relate to one...

My daughter is 12 and a lot like you describe your daughter. She won't look at the Care and Keeping of You Book and I bought the book "It's so Amazing" which she got to page 10 where there is a naked cartoon boy (illustrating the parts of anatomy) and said NO and she will not look at the b...

Thanks! She is very excited about homeschooling. I've found a curriculum I like and I am very positive about getting away from the mainstream school. Just last week my daughter told me she had a dream she was in the halls at school and the kids pushed her down and trampled her. I think that's a sign...

Just wanted to give an update: After over seven months of chronic stomach pain and over eight months of regular panic attacks, my daughter is finally doing much better. She has had no (or very little) stomach pain for almost 3 weeks now. She has had only 1 panic attack in the last month. She was put...

An update: While my daughter is doing a bit better and not having panic attacks as often, the OCD type behaviors are continuing to worsen. She had really bad anxiety/meltdown when were supposed to go back to the behavior psychologist and do Bio Feedback and shut down completely and wouldn't even loo...

I agree with you on the science behind supplements. I emailed the GI Doc and told him we'd like to wean off this med and possibly try another or just use some pain meds in the meanwhile. He replied that he's now like to run more tests. Stool and possibly scope. Don't know why he waited this long to ...

Also I'd be careful with assuming this comes from a place of anger, sounds like she's very afraid of the world around her and feels threatened....it can look angry but underneath she is likely very afraid and doesn't know how to handle it and has probably developed the defensive/angryness as a defe...

Also if the current psychiatrist thinks she shouldn't have been prescribed that anti-depressant why is she still on it? There are drugs designed specifically for anxiety so not sure why they'd start with those meant for depression. I have found many anti-depressants make me more anxious...except th...
