I'm pretty sure I am, my 13 year old is diagnosed, and my 7 year old shows clear signs of being on the spectrum. I'm also single and have a career, and the children's mother has very little to do with the children. Things seem to be running all right, as long as nothing interrupts our routines. The ...

You are probably just overthinking the process. My thoughts on this is to respond in accordance with how close you are with the person, or how much time you want to spend with them. Generally, when an acquaintance or co-worker asks how I am, I say fine, but if I feel like being chatty with them I'll...

Heya morpheus,
I've informally diagnosed myself with Aspergers after I was divorced. I think had I known, things might have ended up differently.
I've read this guys blog: http://life-with-aspergers.blogspot.com/ and he seems to be doing the whole marriage and kid thing pretty well. |

Thanks DonkeyBuster, and to everyone else that replied. I'm feeling better this morning. I did talk to the kids last night about making some changes around here to allow me with a little time for myself and they seemed agreeable enough. I even went out and picked up a couple presents. I guess no one...

I usually stay up late with my oldest on the weekends. We watch movies and play video games together. It seems like it's the only time we hang out. Sometimes its like 2 or 3 when we go to bed. My youngest is usually asleep by 9:30 or 10 and likes to wake up at 7 which is better then 5 that he was wa...

Thanks DonkyBuster, Hehe. I think I'm down to the bare minimum. I've been pretty run down lately and had already cut out a lot of unnecessary things. Appreciate what you do each day... not what you don't do. Your kids have a roof over their heads, food on the table, and are getting an education. Ple...

To seek professional help?
I think that that's what I really need. I'm at a loss how to help myself right now. |

DonkeyBuster, I realize that. I have a lot of issues that I'm dealing with at the moment concerning myself. The real life issues mixed with the issues in my mind have come to a peak I think. I don't even know what to address first. I feel like the only thing keeping me going is that I have to take c...

My main stressor at christmas isn't the money, it's the shopping. Growing up, christmas was the one big blowout celebration. It was the one time of year that we got spoiled, that my parents would get me and my brother stuff that we desired and lusted for, but didn't have a hope in hell of buying for...

Oh yeah, I forgot, I did talk to my doctor, and he knows that I have really been struggling with stress and anxiety, so is going to refer me to a counselor. I'm hoping that they might be able to help me figure out what some of my options are.

Thanks for the support and suggestions. They are most appreciated. I actually don't mind the kids being over. My older son is diagnosed with Aspergers and I'm sure my younger son is on the spectrum. They are both very shy and really don't like going places. I do encourage them to go over to other pe...

Right now I feel so alone and overwhelmed. It makes it even worse that Christmas is approaching, as there is so much to do. I am divorced and my two boys live with me full time. I have an extremely handicapped daughter that lives in a home and I take her every second weekend. Right now I am the only...

What an interesting topic, as I have been thinking a lot about this since my separation 2.5 years ago. I have only known about AS and how it might apply to me for about 6 months, but here is my experience. In the end, the biggest complaints coming from my wife was about my obsessive behavior, my lac...

Hi pete. Thanks for responding. I still doubt my abilities to raise my kids well rounded, but reading this site has eased my anxieties somewhat. There is some real useful stuff in here. This new self awareness has really shown me my weak areas and given me ideas on how to work on them.

Interesting thread. I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada. Just the other day my mom was telling me how I sounded like an Englishman as a child. I've had people ask me if I'm french. I don't even know anyone french, and have only been to Quebec briefly. While in Wyoming this summer, people did recognize me ...

Thanks for replying Tahitiii and Icecypher. I'm in Saskatchewan Canada. I'm not sure of resources in the community yet. The city I live in isn't very big. My son has a special aid at school that works with him, and it was actually her that facilitated the diagnosis, as he was originally diagnosed bi...
