I dislike being touched sometimes, especially when it comes by surprise. I can usually tolerate it though. Other times I don't mind it at all and I'm not sure what the difference is. If I initiate it, it's fine. It really seems to depend on how sensitive I feel on any given day.

When I was a child everything was all about cats. I still own cats but it's not all encompassing like it was when I was a child. I collected little figurines, knew everything there was to know about cats and talked about them all the time. I wouldn't attend kindergarten without a stuffed cat. I reme...

Nelle, I can completely relate to this. My moods often don't relate to what's going on in my life. I can be incredibly stressed about something (which causes me to want to withdraw, feel irritable, and perseverate on whatever has gone wrong and how it could potentially get worse) and then wake up th...

Maybe provide them with some written information on Aspergers, describe what you've noticed and suggest they look into it with a doctor? I have seen a situation like this go bad...people can become offended that you think there is something "wrong" with their child, meanwhile you are just concerned ...

I'm opposite to many people here - I find cold actually painful. As a child I wondered why adults tortured all the children at recess by making them stay outside in the winter time, then I realized that most kids didn't mind it. I'm better with this the older I get.

Unfortunately, yes. Seems kind of silly, doesn't it? It's really all about appearing nice and saving other people's feelings, but I find my feelings are more hurt if I don't know what's going on. Really, I don't know how to make friends - all of my friendships have kind of happened by accident (or l...

People who lose weight by counting points or calories and rewarding themselves when they reach certain weight milestones along the way are applying ABA. This also goes for many other self-help programs for changing habits like quitting smoking. Cognitive behavioural therapy which helps people to cha...

Exactly! I think if I was always doing the initiating I would just leave it alone, but this person always sends me facebook messages saying that she misses hanging out with me and wants to get together. We've even gone so far as to set a date but then she always cancels. Like you and your friend, we...

Thanks for the replies! Michhsta and CanadianRose, I think you are right to be direct and specific. I have done this a few times and it's worked out, but often I just don't want to feel silly if the other person just brushes it off. Sparrowrose - yes I have heard of this! It's similar to when an ent...

I can sometimes get offended easily by teasing. I think it's because I can't always tell if the person is joking or not.

Light touch confuses the nervous system. Deep touch sends a clear message to the brain.
I'm touch sensitive myself but not to the degree that some have described here. |
