I can recommend the humble store. they often have packages where you can get hundreds of dollars worth of games for just a few bucks. For example, i got 'the sims' 1, 2 and 3, with all expansions, for $15, or all Xcom and related games for $8. Agreed. I got a Steam key for Alien Isolation for £7.99...

I've never played any of those games so I couldn't say which I'd prefer out of them. However have you tried looking into used games or checked on ebay for cheaper prices? Buying a brand new game at full price can take a lot out of your wallet but you might be able to find cheaper copies that have b...

Take a look at some of the gems on GOG. Lots of pre-configured DOSBox files - Ultimate Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Tryian 2000 (available for free), Theme Hospital, Screamer 1 2 and 3 and SWOS 96/97. IMO the pick of the bunch is POD Gold - brilliant futuristic racer that was one of the most groundbreaking ...

It would help if you told us what specs your computer has. If we're talking 512MB RAM, 40GB hard drive and 700Mhz processor, it's time to upgrade your hardware. If we're talking 4GB RAM and a dual core processor, I would suggest installing Linux Mint which will do word processing and internet no pro...

It's good to have something to fall back on if your main computer stops working and you need to go online to access information to fix it. And computers don't have to break the bank. The PC I'm using at the moment was a £30 local pick up on eBay and with the help of my trusty HD 5450 graphics card a...

From the sounds of it, there are more problems at work than a dead battery and I wouldn't throw serious money on ageing hardware. Best bet is a full disassembly and clean and possibly reapplication of thermal compound for the CPU as suggested by Yigeren. The other possibility is that your ageing mac...

I would recommend Mint or Ubuntu as these are the distros that cater for mainstream users. You're more likely to get the driver support you need from them than you are from the tech heads on Arch or the open source fanatics on Debian. Just checked my Libre Office and I can confirm that it supports t...

The old IBM Thinkpads are popular with the free software enthusiasts because they're one of the few systems that are compatible with the Libreboot BIOS which would allow one to run a computer with free, open source software from BIOS level onwards. You would also have the satisfaction of knowing tha...

I backed this on Kickstarter.

I enjoy this game a lot. My favourite truck is the Volvo.

I haven't got round to buying my own truck yet. I'm happy just doing jobs on a freelance basis.

Go retro. Download some emulators and play some real games. Beyond that, you're at an age where most people start to take life a bit more seriously and work towards the things that will hopefully make them more independent in the future (career training, university etc) so maybe it's time to think a...

Personally, I quite like it when old threads come up. I've been on some forums where threads have been revived after gaps of 10 years or more but then I'm quite a nostalgic person. To think that in years to come we might have a situation where a thread is revived after 50-60 years like Sigourney Wea...

I have the GB Everdrive and an original white DMG with the backlight and bivert mods... I got all the way through that mod, but I just can't get the thing to go back together without the case squishing the screen =/ It's just sitting in a box now, waiting for me to figure out what the heck I'm goin...

Columns Crown (revamped version of the Sega puzzler) Sonic Advance 1,2 and 3 (I like the first one best but they're all old school Sonic fun) Driver 2 Advance Mario Bros (comes on the Super Mario Advance 2 cart with a port of Super Mario World) I also bought the original model back in the day. I sti...

Indie game development is a bit different to the mainstream studios. You get to be your own boss and it's possible for two or three people to make a game and sell it. Come up with an idea, get funding from Kickstarter and you could be the next Minecraft. Might be an idea to try a bit of open source ...
