Happy to say that even though non-therapeutic circumcision isn't exactly illegal in the UK, the British Medical Association is against it, which I guess means that any parent wishing to impose it without the child's consent isn't going to find it at all easy to get the op done. It appears to be rat...

Is it ever conceivable that America could get rid of the two-party system entirely, and just elect the best and most qualified people for the job? That would include the senate and the Supreme Court, over time. Call me naive. Call me an idealist. I just don't understand why it needs to be structure...

"If you start a post by announcing "folks should be free to use drugs", and then launch into diatribe about how they should keep pot illegal- you are contradciting yourself. Similarly you dont say "I am for the freedom to bear arms" and then say that the govt should confisi...

We recently had a political proposal in Denmark to raise the legal age of male circumcision to 18, so people - and not their parents - could decide on their own if they wanted to get circumcised. Polls showed that 73 % of the Danish population was in favour of the age requirement (and less than 10 %...

Religious freedom should be a right everybody enjoys. So why do the U.S and EU not ban circumcision of children, until the child can voluntarily agree to the surgical procedure? Because ... religious freedom is a right everybody enjoys . You anwered your own question in the first sentence of your o...

Simone Biles is 24. That's actually close to the average retirement age for elite female gymnasts. And given all her records and medals, Biles has probably pushed her body a lot further than her peers. That's why I have always been ambivalent about elite gymnastics. It's truly impressive to see what...

I used to sprain my ankles a lot when I was young, but it never really hurt or bothered me. Also I was able to do weird things with my shoulder joints, so maybe I was just really flexible. Oh yeah, I got that one too. As I recall, I can dislocate my left shoulder at will. Let me just check... Yep, ...

I also have both alexithymia and hyposensitivity to (some types of) pain. For instance, I used to suffer from chronic ankle instability some years ago because of recurrent ankle sprains. Whenever I suffered a sprain, I would just ignore it because the pain was manageable (and sometimes it even felt ...

Belief in the resurrection is central to Christianity. To deny the resurrection is to fall outside the pale of of being a Christian. It is one of the few non-negotiable doctrines of the Christian faith. Resurrection did not happen, say quarter of Christians. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpspro...

Well, the rainbow flag as a symbol for the LGBT community was invented in the 1970s.

Both rainbows and gay people have been around much longer than that.

Well, my impression is that "no religion" seems to be the most prevalent here on WP. I am personally fond of several aspects of both Mahayana Buddhism and Daoism, but I don't really see a reason to subscribe to "the whole package" of any belief system. And one can find rigid fund...
