Thanks Artrat
We want to concentrate specifically on getting people to understand meltdowns. In the hope they will learn to keep their judgement to themselves. |

My friend and I have been working on a number of projects this year to improve the way our community sees Autism. We are making groups for ASD kids to socialise that are catered just for them and done in a really fun way. We are making individualised videos for kids to help family, friends and teach... |

I wonder how different putting all NTs in to one pile is different to saying all blacks or asians or jews think the same way. I do not like being placed in a category with anyone else, I think like me....as do my ASD family. My son is not ASD, he is James and he thinks like James. My daughter is Ale... |

My 15 year old daughter has ASD and her Facebook account caused us more grief than anything else. She was under the care of a Psychologist for a few years and she told us that 95% of the kids they see have issues relating to Facebook. If you are going to do it I would have very strict rules and moni... |

NT's probably found out how people with ASD think by asking them. At least that's how I find out about my childrens behaviours...I ask them. Apparently for my son clothing tags feel like sandpaper and eye contact with strangers is so uncomfortable that it is almost physically painful. Apparently for... |

I have a 15 year old Aspergers daughter and she would not do those things, neither would my Aspergers husband or son. Unacceptable behaviour is unacceptable behaviour no matter what label you have. She is not treating you properly and it sounds like a very unhealthy relationship to me. Move on hun, ... |

I learnt very early on that my son talked when he WANTED to only. Our first clue was when, at 2 years old his first word was a perfectly formed sentence. There was not even a single word before then. |

I am NT but my husband and 2 children are Aspies as is my nephew. I have alot of contact with Aspie kids/teens because I run an ASD gamers group. I find it psychologically easier to be around Aspies than I do NT's. Dealing with facts, honesty and being talked to about something more important/intere... |

The label really doesn't matter as long as the label he has gets him the help he needs. We went through a private behavioural psychologist for our initial Aspie diagnosis for both of our children to get them the help they needed as quickly as possible. Once that was done we found a multi-disciplinar... |

I am doing some research at the moment to see if there is a link between Low Latent Inhibition and ASD. It seems to be a prominent personality trait. |

I actually find this subject quite fascinating. For some time now I have wondered if it is really possible for a child with Asperger's Syndrome to actually get through the school system without it being too much of an ordeal. Whilst I have seen posts from parents who say their child is doing okay, ... |

I don't think she has either. I actually saw a documentary type show (sorry I can't remember the name) it was a british child psychologist who had 4 families come and live in one big house for a week or 2 where she could monitor them as a family and help out with techniques and the children's behavi... |

Hi Megan, I am really glad you are getting some help now *hugs* I'm not going to get in to the inevitable drugs/no drugs debate but I can share our decisions with our kids to see if that helps you at all. We have 2 ASD children with various other issues including sensory issues, ocd, anxiety and maj... |

I have tried the diets and they made no difference to either of my kids. The only thing that has altered anything with mine is behaviour modification programs. |
