MENSA is stealing money from people in the form of a "pyramid scheme" If you help us we will help you . Huh? Mensa is about as much like a pyramid scheme as a gym membership or a magazine subscription. Look up what a pyramid scheme is. You might want to pick a different way of disparaging it. If yo... |

Highly intelligent peoples can have problems at socialising, but it don't make them asperger per see. It comes from different problems. (like overexcitabilities and intellectual interests) Also it's not true that asperger is the "geeky" syndrome. Not all aspies are interessed in informatic, mathema... |

"I also have a feeling that a lot of mental effort goes into compensating for Aspergian "blind spots." So those with a lot of the kind of intelligence to do so will use those analytical tools socially, to fit in as well as they can (and to what extent they're willing to)." WOW! Thanks for sharing t... |

I often read on this forum about how those with Aspergers Syndrome have above average to high IQ's. This argument is often used by 'aspie elitists' to defend their position. someone in PPR has just asked the question wheres the proof. So I had a quick search around and came up empty. As General see... |

To NTs: What is the meaning to losing one's virginity by an early age, and why does not having done so earn ridicule? Its as if you haven't been through some rite of passage whereby you prove you're capable of "doing it." It seems to be important enough to some people that they will even "help" the... |

To handle the situation you have to let go of standing up for yourself or what is correct. The most important thing to her/the relationship is that you said something that made her angry, and when you stick up for yourself, you are ignoring that you made her feel bad, in her eyes you are arguing th... |

Reconciliation involves each party looking at the possibilities that they may have hurt the other person’s feelings – even if they did it totally by accident – and presenting something like an apology. The other party can accept the apology and then forgiveness takes place, and the hurt is healed. I... |

Just please try to recall all the shades of gray on the scale of personalities. Don’t lump “NT” people in with psychopathic people, please!! !! ! I can understand that it may seem like that. I hope that's not the case. I would not consider any of the people in my examples to be psychopaths. The peo... |

Kind of hard to have companionable silence when you’re not in the same space. Phone calls area lways more awkward than anything else. In typed conversation, youhave no aquard pauses, not blank spots of “ummmm” and waiting for something to come up to say, and in in-person visits, you can just sit tog... |

Hi, if this is covered on some other thread, just tell me where – but I would like to find out about the differences implied by the existence of this thread. I’m (fairly) NT and trying to figure out the difference between AS and NT sexuality. Is the lack of pleasure before orgasm because touch is no... |

Your question sounds like it’s a matter of being able to bring your wife something “concrete” to be able to prove to here that there is some “real” reason that you behave differently from the ways she has always felt you should behave. The wonderful thing is that you have both discovered the informa... |

Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrom – Wow! This sounds like my father. I think. Maybe. Where are the adults? What does an adult PDA-sufferer look like? Are adults likely to have become more subtle about things? I mean, the manipulative part would eventually outweigh the tantrum part, or else the m... |

So many questions here seem to lump everyone into two groups and figure that the one they belong to gets unfairly picked on by the other, lager group. So the questions tend to be things like: “To an NT; why do so many NTs tell horrible lies, mistreat good people, return bad behavior for good, and ac... |

I have a question for both NTs and Aspies. When you look somebody in the eyes (make eye contact), what do you see? Do you get non verbal clues about the emotion state of that person? Do you focus on the pattern of the irises? Or you see something else? This eye-contact question seems to come up aga... |

I have a question for an NT: Is there any way for NT's and AS's to coexist in real happiness, not the faked kind? Will there always be a brick wall between the two since Aspergers has no cure and by rights is just a personality type? Interesting question. I'm not sure real happiness can ever be ach... |
