Does anyone know of an online test that checks ability to read body language / social cues? It preferably should be in the form of video clips so that it's in real time, rather than still images. And I don't mean that BBC spot fake smile test. I've already done it. |

No way. She's just nervous. A lot of people act awkward when nervous. Awkwardness doesn't automatically = aspergers.. It's funny how people relate stuff to themselves. I go to a social anxiety forum, and over there they all think she has social anxiety... For the record I think she has neither. But ... |

I won't eat jelly. Or anything with gelatin in it. I'm just disgusted by the texture.. |

I talk with my hands a lot. I think AS people tend to overuse or lack use of hand gestures compared to NTs. |

Hmm yes. I started when I was 4 though I didn't really know what I was doing. Then I lost interest for 10 years. Regained interest at 14, and managed to 'get there'. |

Me too. I find it hard to make and maintain friendships, so over the years I have become very isolated (currently have no friends). But I'm ok. I rarely feel lonely. |

Yes I noticed this a while ago, but then I realised that it's probably because each eye is getting a different level of light exposure due to your position. So when you shut the one with more light you see more blue/green, and when you shut the eye that was getting more shadow / darkness, you see mo... |

So what would be an example of being nervous in a socially acceptable way? I think honesty can work-for example if you're nervous or embarrased just say you're nerous or embarrased. This way you're being more open and people will have less reason to think you're being weird. What I mean by nervous ... |

Your description sounds very much like my own dad, who I think has mild subclinical AS (undiagnosed). He is also awkward and stilted around me, which is sad. But I notice he isn't that way with most people, like his friends. I think it comes down to personality clashes, or at least lack of clickines... |

I'm a lot like you described also, and I used to think I had Asperger's for that reason. I'm able to have normal conversations with family members and friends who I'm comfortable around with no problem, but with larger groups or strangers, I tend to listen a lot more than speak, and I usually stay ... |

Do any of you find your social skills are normal and you can pass for normal when you are anxiety free and relaxed? Or are you always seen as odd? I know I can often look as though I lack social skills, but a lot of the time I know it's because I'm anxious and I can't loosen up. I end up usually not... |

I watched Heather on ANTM, and as lovely as she is, she is one autistic chicken. I grew up with family members and friends with AS, and I have seen the many forms and levels of functioning it can take.. I also have a psychology degree and have an interest in the area. Sounds to me this clinicial psy... |
