What about on my live CD I see multiple mounted drives. Tomorrow I'll post a screenshot so you can understand what I'm trying to explain. Live CDs mount a filesystem in system RAM to run the OS, and they also typically auto mount every partition on every drive they can find. If your drive has multi... |

I am definitely logged in when I visit the forums and able to post, however when I go to the homepage it has the login and register buttons visible. Basically, there are two backends to the site. Wordpress runs the "main" site, phpbb runs the forum. Unlike the old version, the wordpress i... |

We are - we didn't do the development, but we came in to do testing and we've been doing engineering support for the cutover process. |

Right now we're manually going through an approving them every couple minutes, in between troubleshooting.

Hmm well so far not liking that with the upgrade to the site you have to wait around for a moderator to approve your post for it to show up on the site. I feel like that is really going to slow down conversation, and just don't have the sort of patience to post, hope my post actually gets 'approved... |

It's a sad day when the death of a man sparks ridicule of him and what he believed in. I don't agree with Jim Brady's viewpoints, and I would stand up and be counted in opposition to his proposals - but I absolutely respect him for sticking by his beliefs and trying to make the world a better place ... |

Depends on what kind of device we're talking about. It doesn't invalidate my point on how it would be easy to detect a device like that in the car, though. Yes, because we all commonly have xray vision and check through plastic body panels for stuff. The dongle on my sedan has a piece that covers u... |

Good luck making a separate port and connecting it to the ECU in the time it would take to change the oil (i.e. minutes). Seriously? The CAN bus is a 2-wire bus, you don't need a port, you just need a couple of alligator clips. Also, the engine CAN bus runs into the transmission, which means you li... |

True. I've yet to see anyone gain full access to a car and remotely control it over a significant distance, though. You missed my point again, I'm not trying to say that our current cars are wheeled death traps waiting for some hacker to kill us for the lulz. My point is that all the pieces are the... |

Power steering is mandatory because of dot safety standards
Fuel injection is mandatory because of emissions standards.
Power locks I don't think are mandatory by federal guidelines, but I'm willing to bet some state out there made them mandatory for some reason. Probably California. |

You'll need to gain access to the car first. Telematics systems have already been hacked, and the CAN bus isn't particularly secured from access outside the car. If you're thinking of CAN bus hacking, then this enables you to controll stuff like the radio, whether or not the servo works, and so on.... |

Or does the idea of automatic cars aka " smart cars " terrified anyone? Just the thought of not being the one driving a car, and with technology becoming more and more integrated with the newest models. The thought of some complete stranger with the know how, could hack into the cars' engine, brake... |

The short answer is yes, it definitely can be. Most TV/radio broadcasting antennas are 10,000 to 100,000 watts ERP, which is absolutely a dangerous power level. However, open air is an extraordinarily bad conductor, and the power level drops precipitously, to the point where an area roughly 100 mete... |
