I wear sunglasses in public when I can to avoid eye contact with others. It makes me uncomfortable when someone notices I'm looking at them. Most times I purposely don't look at people. I'm told that my eye contact looks scary, or like I'm "gone" or i get asked if something's wrong because I'm stari...

Marijuana is definitely helpful if you're like me in regards to anxiety and your nerves in general. A lot of times I get so freaked out by the volume of people I have to be around due to my job, and it helps me so much when I can smoke a small bowl and get my appetite back. It helps me sleep, helps ...

Scientifically, life isn't important. Science is only the study, the facts, and guesses based off of previous observations, therefore it lacks an opinion. But individual awareness introduces many variables, which creates subjectivity. "One man's trash is another man's treasure." It holds true to all...

I would much rather ask God if he/she/it knew why it exists at all, and how it came to be. Does the ultimate being truly have all the answers, if there is one at all?

I don't like having asperger syndrome either. I hold myself accountable for the choices I make, but the condition is to blame for some things. It has crippled my life in a way that I can't undo, but rather find other ways to make life more enjoyable. Depersonalization is a huge issue for most of us....

(Fairly long, but bear with me here if you can.) I'm 23 but hoping for some responses of experience from some of the 30+ members, but any advice is always welcome. I know everyone has their own problems to deal with and I don't want to sound whiny, but please try to be patient with me. It may sound ...

Sometimes I feel that the cons of AS greatly outweigh the pros of it in regards to the bigger picture. It's true that "life is what you make of it", but I can't help but wonder how much different (or the same) I would be if I didn't have it. The endless number of questions and possibilities we have ...

"God" made me an Aspie so I could wonder endlessly with obsession as to what made "God" and fail horribly at answering the question.

It definitely happens. I was originally diagnosed as bi-polar when I had just turned 16.

It's the mindframe of "hey, these are going to be people I can relate to". Most of the people who get that idea then become excited to find that they're indeed others similar to them, only to forget that those similarites being reciprocated may not be as comforting as originally expected. The exampl...

...although I knew my brother was autistic, I just assumed it was some form of a mental handicap. I didn't realize that he had AS, or that AS even existed. Just wondering--is it common for people not to know much about autism even with autistic people in the family? If so, the doctors have even mor...

I think I might have used the wrong choice of words. By serious relationship, I didn't mean one that I would be building on toward marriage, but one where the two people involved generally feel an affection to one another. Some relationships I've been in were just...I don't know how to put it. Like ...

You know the water hose thingy next to the faucet of a kitchen sink? Well, the one in the break room at work has a rubber band holding the handle to the gun and it's pointed forward. No one has tried to wash their hands yet it would seem. >_>

Usually when I go into a place like Wal-Mart I try to go in the middle of a sunny day, or very late at night. The reason being for going in the middle of a sunny day is that it gives me an excuse to wear my sunglasses inside, making it a lot more comfortable on me. If I have to go late at night, I d...

On alot of my topics I've seen some people mention they don't speak much. I can't even fathom not talking much! Just WOW! As other Aspies I tend to say the wrong thing so sometimes I think the silent treatment might be good aswell but I have NO IDEA how to train myself how to do this!! ! LOL! and a...

I've got no quarrel with the self diagnosers. It is very hard for some people to get diagnosed, either there's no ASD specialists nearby or they are mild enough to not be diagnosed. It is also misdiagnosed and overdiagnosed. We have people coming in here asking if they have AS because of some very ...
