Say to him what you said here:

You were anxious about your new job. You really appreciated how welcome he made you feel and you're sorry if your anxiety made you seem shy or unapproachable. Would it be okay with him if you started over?

If that's too much to say to his face, email him.

I live in the same house as my mother but we don't get along and I only see her once a week. If you really wanted not to see your mother-in-law or to cut back the time that you spend with her, you could. What you are feeling is a sense of obligation to engage in a certain amount of socializing with ...

I'd be more worried about my husband refusing to support me when she's upsetting me. Does he feel that it's partly your fault (and if so, why) or is he just avoiding a conflict (i.e., taking the easy way out)? If you can't communicate this worry to him, then it seems that there is a serious stumblin...

Can't abide being with my mother. She is a self-centered, needy, drama queen who appears to have a serious emotional issues. My brother escaped home as soon as he could, so we're not close and the fact that he has three uncontrolled, screaming, spoiled toddlers makes visits with him close to unbeara...

People often force themselves to be social because they feel that they 'ought' to have friends. That they ought to WANT friends. Finding out that you have AS, can give you permission to say to yourself 'i really don't enjoy this', and spend more time doing what you DO enjoy, which usually isn't soci...

I find eye contact uncomfortable and unnatural, so I just do the minimum necessary to maintain the conversation, and even so, I have to think about it all the time to get it right. If there's someone that I want to get rid of, I've found that extended, intense eye contact usually does the trick. Bas...

I have to shoot down a lot. Not really interested in 'initiating', it's hard enough to get rid of them.

I avoid them as much as possible in real life. I'm a little more sociable online, but not much.

I find it necessary to have some social contact just to make day to day life more practical, but it's purely practical. Usually, all I get from it is some groceries and a headache.

I usually avoid travel because I hate the thought of being stuck in such close proximity to so many people for an extended period. Plus my seat mates ALWAYS want to talk....being forced to sit beside someone who wants to talk and having no escape whatsoever..../shudder. However, I recently acquired ...

I'm not. It seems that the ideal defense against rape is to attack the victim. So depressed. I can never be ideal so anyone can rape me if they are rich enough?

Ended up giving the waiter a tip that made him want to hump his register. The situation was unavoidable if I didn't want to alienate the few people still talking to me. Letting one of them pay then giving my money to the staff seemed best option. The fault was mine for allowing myself to be manipula...
