I can definitely relate in terms of an obsession with metal and video games.....the "metal" interest waned slightly when I was in college, as did the video games, but that's just because I was too busy to indulge myself too much. Now that I'm more or less on my own (wife included, though), I have a ...

So, I've started considering a serious career path and I'm thinking about becoming a special education teacher.....I know working in a social setting has its challenges but, as I see it, I have an insight into the autistic spectrum that most special ed. teachers lack, and I think it would help me ma...

I've never gotten into the minis or the table-top angle of Warhammer but I'm a huge gamer and have been playing DOW2 for the past week and love it. It's gotten me interested in the lore and history behind the setting so I can totally relate to this. Great work!

In college, many of my friends were socially awkward (not in the same sense as me, though) but they still weren't socially aware, so I never had to deal with people like these, but this was a huge problem at my most recent job. There were a few people, in particular, who were considered the be-all, ...

I have had alot of bullying by sociopathic types in adulthood that I thought were friends. I suffered through some pretty hurtful stuff with an online community in 2006; instrumental in this was a borderline I'd befriended who'd made herself seem pitiful but was anything but (typical borderline mod...

I think the problem we all have, the reason any of us would ever want a cure, is to eliminate the constant belittlement and sense of worthlessness we're made to feel day after day, because we're living according to one set of rules and the NTs of the world according to another. I, myself, have an as...

Teaching can be both a good and bad position, depending on the specifics.....I taught a college course for two years and, I can tell you, it was a good learning experience. The material itself was a little challenging, but I'm pretty good at relating complex concepts in simpler terms, so I really en...

Hey guys, Thanks for the input. I'm actually pretty tech savvy, but most of what I know is self taught....I built both desktop computers that my wife and I currently use, and I've had a lot of experience with formatting computers, setting up Windows, different software programs, etc. I know about di...

I've given a lot of consideration towards breaking into the IT field but I'm concerned by the same problems several of you mention in other topics....it's the same problem I face right now, the question of how to get work-related experience when no one will take you on board. My current education is...

I often fall for this....occasionally when talking with friends some nuance of sarcasm is lost on me and, depending on the person, I may not even pick up on it at all. When I'm with a group who's tolerant and understanding then we usually get a laugh out of it but it has caused problems at work. I c...

Hi everyone! I just stumbled on this forum a couple days ago and I'm blown away by how much similar my situation is to so many people on here. I'm a 25 year old guy from the US who's between jobs at the moment, likely due to many of my own symptoms. I apologize if I end up rambling, but I figure I s...

I've had Tourettes for as long as I can remember so maybe I can give you some input. Appealing to my own knowledge, tics tend to emerge during childhood, when a person is around 4 or 5 years old, and grow progressively more pervasive as they age. In a number of people, those symptoms tend to wane as...

I can totally relate to everything shared thus far in this topic....I'm new to the forums and I firmly believe myself to have Aspergers, though I haven't received a formal diagnosis. Going back to the main topic, though, I was laid off from my first real job a couple weeks ago and I wouldn't doubt t...
