I also plan my conversations, gives me a little more control, you can have influence on (the outcome of) the conversation by your choice and tone of words. However my non-verbal communication is out of control, so it doesn't always work due to that.

For me, the avoidance of eye contact is for two reasons/situations:
- the avoidance of contact in general (if you don't attract their attention, they'll leave you alone)
- to concentrate on what the other is saying (visual information distorts audible information)

Han shot first, Greedo's shot is edited in to make Han look like the guy who shoots back instead of shoot first.

I'm unemployed and was without a special interest. Pink Floyd's Time really knows how that feels. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the ...

I remember arguments very vividly, I think of my head as a kind of file cabinet, I have to put the memory in the right drawer, sometimes it only takes a few minutes, sometimes even months. I don't hold grudges however, except when people are ignorant, I hate that (that goes in the ignorant people dr...

One of my best friends (NT) is very social and extroverted, I find it very interesting to see how easy it is for him to meet other people, start and contribute to a conversation. I can't do that, probably never will or feel the need to, but it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable, but with other socia...

@johnnydangerous: I can really relate to that, if they see one shortcoming, they seem to think you're full of shortcomings. @b9: I admire your positive point of view, you should indeed be happy with who you are, but on the other hand, I would like people to be more understanding and open minded to a...

I only had Aspie/NT relationships (me being the Aspie :P), so I don't have any personal experience, but I found the film Mozart and the Whale a good description of an Aspie/Aspie relationship (it has a happy ending :D).

Languages are challenging for me because I tend to get interested in one language as I'm learning another one and as a result end up knowing bits and pieces of a bunch of languages but never a complete one. I wish I could stick with one and learn it well, but it never seems to happen. that's cool 8...

Extremely narrow minded, on the one hand they accuse us 'not seeing the forest through the trees' (I hope I get the expression/metaphor right), but when It comes to social skills, they only see their tree and not our tree, metaphorically speaking.

I get this all the time, I must say, my entire life.
Because you don't fit in their box, they place you in one, and because you lack social skills, you will also lack intelligence. I think that is how 'they' think.
