Hey everyone, I've got to tell you. Extra time is critical, not so much for recall, as comprehension. I have AS and in writing exams I had the difficulty of trying to figure out what they were asking. If the question was compound I always answered the first statement. For example if in true or false...

Hey guys, Okay, I still do that. I'll tell you why, everything has energy. I can feel it. So when I leave the house I say goodbye to it. Things that have been loved hold their energy and it gives me comfort to acknowledge it. I feel bad when I don't. Now the kicker is I'm 42 years old. I've been dx'...

Hey, Yes, I believe ASD has genetic links. I have diagnosed Aspergers's. My son has diagnosed PDD-NOS. My daughter is currently being assessed, she seems to have problems with printing and sentence structure - dysgraphia. I think my father was on the spectrum. I also have neices and nephews with lea...

Hey Noodle, I've been exactly where you're at. It's really hard on you to make sense of things and to fit in like yourself. I lost my ability to fake it when I became overwhelmed with my kids. I'm now on medication and I have to say it has made a world of difference. I know I'm different, but I can ...

Hey all, Just an update. I've started taking Trazodone to help me sleep (I'm always pretty wired) and now I'm dreaming my childhood back. I've noticed the things in my dreams are all objects, but I'll take that for a start. I remembered my grandmother's coo-coo clock, the wallpaper in her bathroom, ...

Hi I wouldn't be nervous about telling them because you may need medication at some point in your life. Depression, Anxiety, OCD. I'm in my forties and it was having kids that over loaded me. Immediate family may need to know what meds you're on in an emergency. You may want to mention that you migh...

Hi, My AS son has tactile sensitivity issues. What I have to do with new clothes, jackets, boots, car seats, is place them in the front hall. I need atleast two weeks before something has to change. Everyday I tell him "There's your new ......, do you want to try it?" I can usually get him to try fo...

Hi I am AS. I can only tell you what my sensory dysfunction does to me. I do talk to myself and sometimes in an animated way. I am practising or repeating conversations I heard or were a part of during that day. If I go over the conversation I can make more sense out of it. I try to figure out what ...

Hi Hollie, I think you might want to look up some info on Tics. Seizures have been compared to tics inside the head. There are a number of drugs to contol seizures. I know this because Topomax is used for migraines and is seizure control. I have AS and there is a history of Tourette's in the family....

Hey Hollie My son R is 6 years old, he was diagnosed last month. It is really amazing to finally understand a little of what is going on. R and I have always been very close. It seems I can get into his world and understand what's happening because I am on the spectrum too. I have been reading for t...

Hey Aylissa, Thanks for the feed back. My son R is diagnosed, you're right, I needed that to get him the help he needs in school. During the diagnosis I heard terms like neurological damage, he is compensating with other areas of his brain. R is gifted and shows some extraordinary gifts. It just hit...

Hey Just one more note. D will do what it takes to relieve the situation (this might be to leave the room), he may not realize he does it, so keep an eye out. I just realize what helps for me. I love, love, love the sound of my cat purring. I'm not sure if it's the frequency or pitch but it completel...

Yes, I do believe it is a sympton of Asperger's. My son R is 6 and will cover his ears if sound is sudden and loud, like a gym setting. I am undiagnosed but I wear ear plugs because some noise makes me physically sick. I get angry when I can't make it stop and it doesn't have to be loud, the buzzing...

Hey Kat I got your message, I'm new at this and I'm not sure how and where to post and reply either. Now regarding your questions, here's my best guesses. Your little guy will of course seem "normal" , if it's AS his difference won't really appear until he's 6 or so (and that's early) My guy R is 6,...

Hey Emettman, Whoa, that's kind of a relief. I did not have a bad childhood at all. I don't think I'm repressing memories. The pictures look amazing. I do kind of think my mind was elsewhere. I have an incredible memory for numbers, phone numbers etc. I am an accountant and can recall numbers from m...
