...you might think, oh there's a new wannabe aspie who watched Big Band Theory, or thinks that Aspergers is the new trend for the shy and awkward. But that's not 'really' the case... Never worry about that. I don't think anyone here thinks being autistic is at all fashionable or popular. Many folks...

I get kids meals all the time because I have an extremely slow metabolism and can't eat like other people. I'm 46.

Yeah, discrimination doesn't cover piercings. Why couldn't you take out your piercings for work? If you refused to take them out, then that's not discrimination, unfortunately. I think it's ridiculous that you can't have pierced ears at a movie theatre, that wouldn't happen in Australia, but the emp...

Thanks B19. I like your posts, too. And yes, I agree about Allie's posts. I'm sorry she's gone through such intense depression, but so glad she has shared that with the world and made mental health issues much more accessible. I think her work has really helped to destigmatise depression amongst qui...

Thanks, bungleton, for the feedback. I think the same about Allie's work. I adore everything she has ever written, and especially her willingness to share her struggles. :)

Yes, that's what seems to be happening. Political spin to cover-up a stark example of "crony capitalism". USA citizens betrayed AND ripped off.. Seriously. I'm on 'the left' and I didn't realise how brainwashed we all are until I'd been away for a couple of years. It's quite shocking, to ...

I did some reading and discovered that in 2013, the USA passed a law forbidding the negotiation of price with drug companies. The rationale given was very spurious - that this would keep prices down. Other countries have not passed laws like that, and can still negotiate - and they do. It sounds as...

And the climate is much nicer, too! We, in NYC, just got about 15 cms of fresh snow last night. And they're expecting another 10 cms or so over the next couple of days. I'm from the Pacific NW, and I miss that climate. I can't be in the sun because of lupus, and Australia has made lupus a reality f...

That's really sad. I do know it doesn't work like it works here in Australia. One of the reasons I stay here despite being very homesick is how much more opportunity for equity we have here. I forget how much I should be appreciating that sometimes.

I feel really bad for beneficii and everyone else who has to go through this in the USA. That's outrageous. So what you declare bankruptcy because you're unwell and need help there, but not poor enough to barely afford your food and rent so you can get free medicine? But plenty of money to go around...

The pharmaceutical companies. But wouldn't the same pharmaceutical companies be delivering the drugs we have in Australia? I mean, to my knowledge we don't make all our own medications here. I find that confusing and really quite upsetting. When I was in the USA I was so poor that I qualified for m...

That's outrageous. Who is getting all of that money? Why would they be so much cheaper in Australia when they are coming from the same companies of origin? That's some nasty business.

That must be an American thing. The Australian 'private' price for #60 of 400 (one month at 800mg) is $165.99 http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=56565&pname=Seroquel+XR+400mg+Tablet+60+ I wonder who is making that kind of money off of sick people in the USA and where that money is...

When someone starts threatening the lives of others, I don't really care whether or not law enforcement handles mental illness well, to be frank.
