Anyone here as random as I am? I swear, it seems as if I have absolutely no filter for the thoughts that my brain generates. I have learned to keep what I say under control, but I still have moments when I am so random, it is disturbing. Here are some examples I have on YouTube, a couple songs I wro...

I always just do the fake glance at the eyebrows or the mouth, then look away as I was told my my social skills teacher. Nobody ever notices the I never REALLY make eye contact. My NT brother also has trouble with eye contact, and my mom gives him a lot of lectures about it while she misses mine.

In a way, yes, because they rarely get pushed to act like NTs. But I would really hate to not be able to keep a job or even work at McDonalds. I would kill to be able to support myself as an adult.

Luckily when I was 8, I was in special ed. You would think that would make kids bully me more and call me the "r-word" (partially true), but the benefits outweighed the costs. I had a very supportive teacher who would always try to protect me and give me the skills to deal with people I may not like...

I go many places alone most of the time, and I am an 18 year old female. Not only is it considered weird, but in some areas it can be dangerous. I avoid walking around ratty cities by myself and usually just stay in the safer suburban areas. Sometimes I feel self-conscious about shopping around the ...

You forgot the third type--the people who know they have autism, accept it or are even proud of it, and try to take advantage of it to achieve a life that is nowhere near normal but still involves pursuing their own goals and quite possibly advocating for themselves and other autistics. There's ple...

I was under the impression that the diagnostic criteria for the two disorders are almost identical, but one important difference is that autistics are able to distinguish imagination from reality. I do not know that much about schizo, but my brother deeply insulted me for a month by saying I should ...

My mom does not seem to have a lot of respect for my autistic dad. She thinks she can say whatever she wants to him, at any tone, thinking that she is trying to help him by nagging him to be more sociable. I say it only makes the relationship worse, and I honestly think the best thing they can do is...

I have had a lot of trouble focusing in high school and sometimes passing tests. I had very little time to study at home, which was a double whammy. But that was the payoff for my school, as every student stays an extra 3 hours after school for art tutoring. So I was perfectly happy getting straight...

I am about to hear from my school what room I get, but it has been amazingly delayed! I am still hoing I get a single occupancy room, as this is my first year and I doubt I am ready to deal with roomates just yet. But my school has accepted quite a few students and there is an issue going on in one ...

It reallly bothers me when my mom says that I should not be hanging out with aspies that are "lower-functioning" than me. She still seems to think that they are on a lower level than me, and by hanging out with them, I am lowering myself to them. What! That is so ableist.

It depends on where you live, really. I am moving to a place where most people ride their bikes, so nobody will expect me to drive. I am sure that in highly environmentalist communities, people would actually prefer that you do not drive. I would love to not ever have to drive, since that is the onl...

It is a very selfish thing to do. You will cause a ton of grief on your loved ones. And it is a very final step to take for yourself if you are having a miserable life.
