Posthumous dx was valid in the days when there were no known role models. Now it seems insulting to those who have a diagnosis to pass them over for mere speculation.

These three writers are my heros. I've been complimented by Professors and Professionals in regards to my ...

Technically, everything is emotional. Rationality, is something to do with a sence of domination, power, or something like that. Deep down its an emotion. You never fell in love, how much rationality is there in that? Charisma its something related with falling in love. . No. I never did fall in lo...

You are all mistaken, how things are said matters. Its not only what you say, its also intonation of voice, body language, jokes, etc.... With all that the probability you let your self been convinced increases. Its just that charisma in NTs is more irrational and emotional. People following a char...

Every condition in the DSM has varying degrees of severity. My own daughter is bipolar. Most of the time she copes and few people realize that she has a mental illness. Sometimes she is not fine and that affects her ability to work, sustain friendships, parent and cope with daily living. Sound famil...

Objective reporting of early language development is fraught with difficulty. People confronted with echolalia, for example, often mistake very sophisticated sentences for advanced language, not realizing that the child may be merely substituting approximations for meaning and not formulating his or...

It is not how they say it that I would follow. It is what they say and then does this person live consistently according to the statements they make. There was one person that I consider an amazing leader in history. It was George V1 of England. When London was bombed, his family stayed, against all...

I am not interested in charisma. I am interested in a leader who is fair, inclusive, respectful and who gets the job done.

Maybe not... but it *is* the job of its authors to do as much as possible to get help to those who need it the most... and that's not going to happen if the Aspie Elite hijacks and redefines the public's view of "Autism" to spare its own self-esteem. And make no mistake -- it absolutely will . John...

I do not understand this compulsion to separate "high" from "low" . There is no such thing as high functioning schizophrenia or low functioning bpd. It is nonsense. The important thing is the commonalities between us that identify autism. Believe it or not, at some point along the upper end of the ...

" This same logic would argue that an individual with an amputated leg who through the use of a prosthetic had obtained a normal everyday functioning would no longer be able to be diagnosed as an amputee. . It is not quite the same thing. If the individual with a prosthetic grew a new leg, he/she w...

The intent was to come up with a clear, bright line separating "high" from "low" that doesn't necessarily align with current low/high boundaries, but picks one particular ability that's so fundamental and important, it's inconceivable that someone could even theoretically function at a 'high' level...

It's best to keep it in. Think about how many undiagnosed adults would react at the thought of being told that they have Autism. A good portion of those would just think the psychologist is a quack. Someone with Aspergers is thought of as someone who is odd, nerdy, but a genius, or just socially aw...

sensible post. There is power in standing together, so what are people looking for from diagnosis. From a personal perspective, it immediately answered questions I had about myself and I was then able to start working with my stregnths in order to compensate for my difficulties. I found a sense of n...
