Actually that article doesn't discuss methods of learning. But I'll describe the way that people think [and thus learn]. I understand that wasn't the goal of the article you posted in your first post (even thoug the article is entitled "How the Mind Learns"). I'm just saying I'd love to see conject...

A comment on TCS. It is describing inference and empathy in communication and rational thought. You may wish to direct your research there as there is a lot of it. You also may wish to research some native american/american first nations and how children learn in those cultures. There is a very simi...

This looks to be a very elaborate paper. The only thing that disturbes me is that, for all of its math and logic, there are only 3 resources visible from which information was drawn. There is a chineese proverb that sums up what is being said and what is currently empirically validated by educators....

The points I am trying to make are (counter to yours): 1) Universities are providing the same education that they have for hundreds of years with modifications for changes in philosophy and expanding fields of knowledge. 2) The degree is becoming devalued because everyone wants to have one and it is...

@anxiouspoet I believe you have a lot of misguided conceptions about the public education system and the purpose of Universities. Your writing is also very conflicting as to the point you actually want to make. What you are complaining about does pertain solely to the economy. Why would changes in e...

What you say is true. But it doesn't make college any less of a scam. They've devalued the degree by trying to make college "for everyone". Also, college is essentially a business. The student is the client and accordingly the university ought to render the service it advertises. Schools advertise ...

Best thing to do is be the best advocate of your son you can be. My grandmother thought the same way about me that your relatives are thinking about your son. It took my mother years to convince them that a label was needed and the correct thing to do. Just gotta tough it up and keep telling them no...

MMR vaccinations do not cause autism. It is fairly normal for people with AS to not have any symptoms identified until they go to school. I agree.I would speculate that most AS pres-school children live happily in their own littleworlds and their socialworld is much more flexible.Once school starts...

You have a genetic pre-disposition for it. Depending on the mix of genetics, environmental and behavioral-psycology can have a minimal to great effect on future development. This is why it is a developmental disorder.

To the OP: Obtaining that college degree is not a scam. There is an economic theory that is currently holding back people who have obtained college degrees from getting jobs above 'burger-flipper' class on top of the fact that no one gets job experience while in high school anymore. Signaling theory...

I think there is an illusion that there are many Aspies and people with ASD in Universities. The numbers that all of you are reporting are pretty spot on (though I question how you got those numbers as its illegal for Universities to freely hand that information out due to confidentiality issues. Un...

Ramsus, Not all aspies are depressed (at least I know I'm not). While depression is considered part of AS, as a therapist, I am inclined to disagree with this so called 'universal conclusion' that AS and Depression go togethor. We look at the oddities of mankind and we are, by nature, required to la...

I do wish you luck in your search. Most places are out to 'cure' the 'problem'. It is very unfortunate that there are few adult support networks in all 50 states of the United States. Most of the time, what you are looking for is only given through a public school system.
