An italian autism advocate and my friend is going to organise an awareness campaign for preschool children. I'm searching for something (slides, videos) that's not sad and not representing people with autism like people with something less than others.
Could you help me?

ABA works for everybody, it works also with NT adults. There are ABA implementations in HR management for example. If anyone is doing aba with me and he/she is doing it fine, probably I don't notice it. When I did the latest HR interview in my company, I recognized HR officer was doing aba with me, ...

Hello guys,
I just want to know what's your definition of advocacy. In Italy I'm a beginner in this field and I have my own idea. How do your advocacy organizations work?

In Italy aba is not provided for anyone. If you can pay, your son does aba. Most of the families can't afford it. Health system guidelines recommend aba, but it doesn't mean it's provided. Italy is a complicated country.

// I can't but wonder how you will manage to merge published autism research with best methods of education.// It's a goal for the researchers but it's still a long way. For example, they are developing methodologies to keep kid's attention, but they are not still related to autism, they are related...

Hello all, I'm back after a lot of time. Eventually I found a way to give an education to my 6 yo autistic son. He is doing fine and I have to thank you also for this. I'm committed with autism and disability communities here in Italy, as I promised myself. There's a lot to do, I think my generation...

Hi btbnnyr, I'm just supporting this researchers. They are researching about special education. That's a research topic that no one takes care of in Italy, even if it can seem odd to you. The result is that we have our children in inclusive schools, but if they lag behind the have just baby-sitting ...

I managed my son by myself, there are things I didn't know about autism in my country. It happens that 10 yo children go to mental istitutions and not to daycare centers. It' worse than I imagined. I read an account by another parent this morning. I asked the permission to translate and if it is gra...

Hello everybody, I have not been on Wrong Planet for a while. 3 years ago my son was diagnosed with autism and I was lucky to find this community. I had to face the lack of services in my country. I didn't give up, I studied and supported my son. I did the best I could, I risked to lose my job and m...

I agree with 10%, but there are no reliable data I think. People with autism have some qualitative communication impairment, but usually can speak.

I'm trying to do the same in Italy. I don't know if voluteering can work, it has to be tried as a solution. It's not an easy job, you can do this if you love autistic children. I'm glad that autism rights activists in USA are supporting this. Temple Grandin is an higly valued voice, I'm sure it will...

It is good that you want to help other children, but as the mother you must spend as much time as possible with your son during his formative years. I have no choice because I have my job also. I have no extra time even for my needs... Does your job involve working with special needs children Claud...
