Volunteer somewhere. Join a community garden. Take lessons on something with your park district. I'm talking about putting in a couple months at several different places to get a few people who know you. Be patient, focus on something else, and sometimes things just happen. But get out there. Be typ...

I've mentioned it before in friendly conversation. I mean, don't just throw it out there, but if it comes up, why not? It's different for me being the boss, but if an employee laughs about me running my hands through my hair or being too focused, I might talk about it lightheartedly. It's fun to tal...

I'm not a lawyer, but I know dozens of them. Lawyers may be the most diverse, eclectic group of extraordinarily intelligent people you'll ever meet. I believe that somebody with aspergers who is willing to work hard would fit in quite well (if you're on a law school track, I'm assuming that you're h...

And get over the trying to get laid or a first kiss thing. If you're obsessed with it, it'll show through and creep girls out. Hook up with somebody if you have to (use protection), but get it the f**k out of your system and move on to actually getting to know somebody else. Everybody is awkward the...

There are a lot of very neurotypical people who struggle to make friends and find partners. It's hard to talk to people during day-to-day life. It's harder to find those same people and talk a second time. Our society just doesn't foster people getting to know other people. Add aspergers to that, an...

I run my own business, I do sales calls, hire and manage employees, and I'm financially independent. I'm thankful that I'm pretty high-functioning and well-adjusted, if still a little eccentric. It took me a long time, but being obsessive is good for something. Still, prospagnosia is probably the mo...

I've had this habit of cashing checks in two dollar bills for most of my adult life. I guess I just think they're more practical and should be back in circulation. Dollar coins too. I've met another guy who does the same thing and he has aspergers too. Anybody else out there have a tendency to find ...

She told me how it can upset people very much if they greet me and I don't greet back, or even obviously ignore them. Up to then I knew that sometimes I don't notice people greeting me on the street, but I wasn't aware that I had noticed people greeting me and ignored them... or that I had ever ign...

Same here. I am a pretty clean person, but it's not really about that. It just seems to help me get my thoughts in order.

I feel bad doing it though; it's quite wasteful. Maybe I need to set something up to recirculate water?

This became a running joke in college. I lived with guys for years that I know everything about, and yet still cannot put a name on.

If I see you out of context or you change your hair, I likely won't be able to recognize you.

Same thing. I own 12 of the same grey t-shirt and maybe 10 pairs of the same jeans. I had a job that required casual business dress and bought 6 pairs of dress pants in the same style. Anytime Haines changes their underwear or sock style, I have to throw all my old ones out and totally switch over. ...
