So it looks you're not just wondering about our personal perspectives on our autism, but also about the association between autism and black and white thinking vs. nuanced thinking, and whether you should continue to value your autism. I have some thoughts on all of those things. This is pretty long...

I read this post, the ones you linked, plus one about how you feel about your sexuality. I guess I "came out alive". Some of your experiences I don't share, however I have been bullied, I've questioned my sexuality, I have anxiety problems and I had clinical depression of some sort (had antidepressa...

What he said about you not having it as a result of not having symptoms makes sense. However, if it mostly has to do with you having high verbal ability as he said, that doesn't make sense because autistic people can be very verbal and they're still autistic.

I would happily sleep with a man, kiss a man, do all the things, but I could never love a man or be properly attracted to a man. I'm not like that, but I know there are plenty of people who are. Sometimes, romantic and sexual attraction are separate. That's why, online, you'll see people separating...

I don't know why he's doing that. There are probably a billion possible explanations. Maybe you should try asking him or figuring out why he's doing that. Maybe it's because there's something wrong in his life. I remember suddenly getting depressed (and I'm not using that casually - I mean seriously...

AtticusKane - that's awesome Wickedlucid- it's cool how those gestures help your memory. Mine seem to mostly do with articulation and gathering my thoughts (very difficult for me). Glad my writing helped you. I do all kinds of weird things with my fingers ever since I stopped biting my nails, actual...

I wouldn't know if you're misdiagnosed. I don't know the reasoning behind the therapist diagnosis or your reasoning. I'm no therapist, certainly couldn't diagnose based on this one piece. In fact I wouldn't really give the last post much regard at all since I posted impulsively and thoughtlessly. An...

This post comes from curiosity and the nagging feeling I can't be the only person like this. It's also a bit unfocused. Also might be wrong forum. The post is just a bunch of thoughts on "stimming, habits, quirks and gestures", as mentioned above. Anyway, I find I have habits with weird timelines. I...

Agree with many of the posters here. Not sure there is much merit to the study, but here's a hypothetical contributing factor -Parent(s) refuses to vaccinate kid after hearing autism-vaccine reports. Kid later shows signs like no eye connect, parallel play etc. But parent(s) thinks kid couldn't poss...

It doesn't bother me if they look for broader AS traits not just impairment- impairment can depend on the context (culture, circumstance, opportunity etc.) the person's in. Also, if somebody has relatively easy sailing, then hits a rough spot/experience autistic burnout/ "regresses", then showing ev...

To elaborate, for me it's almost every time I try to talk to friends/acquaintances. A lot of the time - maybe around half- I just say, "I can't think of anything to say", or, occasionally force myself to say something random/irrelevant because otherwise I wouldn't say anything. The rest of the time ...
