that is true for Rugby Union, but not Rugby League. Watch the video I posted earlier. In League, play stops as in Gridiron, when the ball carrier is down. League allows the same style of tackling as Gridiron, but none of the players lead with their head, because while they might be stupid, they aren...

This is my point. You can still have a high-speed massive contact game without the body armour & helmets. The most important thing though is to notice that not one of the defenders in that video lead with their head. The Rugby codes do have player safety issues, but in almost every case they are...

I love a good mat session. Rolling (BJJ) is great. Calms, relaxes, and makes you feel good. Important to find good sparring partners though.

| Both Rugby League and Australian Rules football allow non-wrap tackles. The hit has to be above the knees and below the line of the shoulders, (ie, you can't drive your shoulder into their face), but they still do the diving-shoulder barge thing. | yeah, I think length of time served is a pretty bad predictor of leadership skills. And to be honest, you've said you hate the job & you hate socialising with the other workers... I would probably pick an enthusiastic people-person to lead the team as well. As for the comment, yeah, it was ignor... |

I really don't. We get it on free-to-air here, so it's not something I've ever had to deal with. |

When my fooball team St Kilda was playing Geelong in the Grand Final of September 2009 as I was watching it live on TV at my sister's house, everyone noticed I was walking around in circles accept me, because it was such a tense and close match to the end, I could barely bare to watch it and my hea...

ok, well I find the differences in the football codes (gridiron, soccer, Aussie rules, rugby etc) fascinating. They all developed from a common ancestor. Anyway, Australian Rules football is played on a large oval field, usually about 150 meters long. There is no offside, and play only stops when th...

I used to run around a rubbish heap out the back of our house for hours every day, up until I was about 16. I would just think mainly. I would usually carry some sort of stick and pretend I was off in some fantasy world. I eventually wore a pretty deep track. When I flew a plane over my house I coul...

Any character based on Sherlock Holmes is going to have ASD traits. Dr House, Patrick Jane, Monk etc. Whether their formal diagnosis would be ASD, or something else we can argue about all day, but the Holmes archetype is of a person who notices what others do not, who has a driving special interest ...

System Shock 2. Hands down. I still get goosebumps everytime I hear a monkey scream. The scene in Toy Story 3 with the sentry monkey abomination sets my teeth on edge. Ugh. EDIT: Forgot to mention roguelike games. Ancient Domains of Mystery, Dungeon Crawl & Dwarf Fortress (not properly a rogueli...

That sounds a bit more stereotypical rather than actual. That really only applies more to the "old skool" Baptist tradition and not quite so much of current trends. Yeah, that's why I used the scare quotes around the title. I was categorising churches by worship style more than theology or name. Yo...

I think an 'Oceanic Union' of sorts is an inevitability, with Australia, NZ, PNG and the islands sharing a common currency and defence force. Let's be real, it's the defacto situation at the moment. Aus & NZ provide most of the higher education for the region, as well as most of the security. Lo...

Anyway, ... the NFL needs to ban hard-shelled helmets & other 'safety' gear. Amen to that. I had an idea for another "high octane" football version. It's seven-on-seven, forward passes are always legal, and the ball is in play at almost all times, almost like rugby but with forward passes and a...

Playing a man down (especially on defense) is a massive penalty. They've already made it ridiculously difficult for defenders to do their job. You would just throw 7 yard passes all day long. The umpiring over holding and unnecessary roughness is far to arbitrary. The problem is the equipment. Just ...

[I skimmed over the first page of this thread, but seeing as it derailed depressingly quickly, I didn't read the rest. Apologies if this has been covered.] Obviously you should attend a church that believes as close to the same thing you do. You go to church to worship God in the way you deem most c...
