I'm NT and as soon as I realised my partner was Aspie and read up on the subject (and he did the same) our relationship was vastly improved. I used to think he was just being difficult and the meltdowns were scary, but now we know why we have these differences they're not really an issue any more. I... |

I tell them I'm an atheist and direct them to http://www.richarddawkins.net. Then I give them contact info for the Cult Information Service, and remind them that they're still young enough to have a life. |

Hey, I'm NT (and a possibly cool-ish chick...) and I would have responded to that! I don't know what it means but it's a heck of a lot more interesting than anything most NT men have to say, and it's definitely a conversation-starter. But Hey, I'm already with an Aspie... there must be more of us ou... |

Something that complicates this though, is that oftentimes the closer two people are, the more time they want to spend with each other. At least this is what happens in the NT world. For AS, on the other hand, spending a lot more time together results in a lot of space and boundary conflicts, poten... |

Hi... I'm really sorry things are going so badly for you at the moment. I think, although communication problems happen in every relationship, the things your wife wrote sound like typical AS/NT misunderstandings. I get the impression you've just found out about AS-how long had you been married befo... |

I think this difference might also be gender specific; for men, being less apologetic is the norm, but for women, being more apologetic is. I think you may be right actually, that's what I'd say but it probably is a bit girly! I do think that saying 'maybe WE could come up with a solution' makes hi... |

It's often hard for NTs too. Actually a surprising amount of NT relationships are quite meaningless though... it's easy enough to get a GF/BF, but that doesn't mean it's the real thing. It was easy for me to find a husband, but it wasn't love... he wasn't 'The One'. It was easy to leave. But with my... |

Hi Kamex, You say that this is another member of the group, and a friend. Is he aware that you're an Aspie? If so, all you have to do is start by saying 'Please don't be offended by what I'm going to say-because of my AS people often think I'm too abrupt, and they tend to take things I say the wrong... |

Yoga's great for stress. Even better, study Qigong. It's very easy to learn the basics and it's mostly meditation and deep breathing exercises. Practice 15 mins a day and the stress melts away.
If only I'd follow my own advice & remember to do it every day! |

I'm NT and I get like that quite a lot. Sometimes I just can't be bothered with people, and I'm really happy with my partner in his Aspie isolation. I get my social stimulation at work. |

The story about his ex wife only getting pregnant so she could get a council flat doesn't seem believable. Where we come from (a very small inbred town) this is what girls do, unfortunately. Girls I went to school with started having babies at age 14 or 15 and were all on the council estates within... |
