If you are taking the Seroquel primarily for sleep rather than its antipsychotic qualities it may be a good idea to ask your psychiatrist about taking a far lower dose. Seroquel works better for sleep at doses less than 100mg. Once you go higher than that it is less sedative and begins really workin...

Thank you everybody for your kind messages. It has helped to hear that the assessor's attitude was indeed out of line. I always left their feeling offended but like I was somehow wrong for trying to address it. It has been a very confusing experience. Thankfully the assessor will not be running the ...

Thanks for your reply Waterfalls. Yeah, I found the whole assessment process quite strange. I am an intelligent person and I understand my ASD well. There were quite a few times when she asked questions that were based on stereotypes of ASDs (like, she questioned my suitability for the group because...

I'm sorry, but the video of the man with mania shows only one way that mania may manifest. It is less well known that mania may manifest as irritability/agitation rather than feeling great/euphoric. Certainly for people with ASD it is quite likely that excessive talking is not a part of bipolar at a...

Hi Steelmaiden, I don't know what other meds you are on, but atypical antipsychotics (like Olanzapine) can cause the side effect Akathisia. It is described as an "inner restlessness", like the feeling that you describe of being restless and unable to be still. It might be worth looking into. Good lu...

I am due to start a year long group DBT program in a couple of weeks. My diagnosis are Aspergers and Bipolar II. I know that DBT has been developed for people with borderline personality disorder, which I do not have, though they are using it more and more for other mental illnesses. Anyway, when I ...

... I just saw your other posts in this forum. It seems like you need to be hooked up with a good mental health team (psychologist and psychiatrist), that will listen to your concerns. Even if it does come down to that you are somehow fabricating the symptoms or it is part of your ASD, you clearly n...

Hi, Because you are 17 the first thing that I would do is have a look at the headspace.org.au website. They have centres all over Australia where you can see a psychologist, psychiatrist, etc and it would likely be free. At this website https://www.eheadspace.org.au they have a service where you can...

Just recently I was hospitalised for 4 weeks for hypomania followed by a horrific mixed state caused by an SSRI. It is not the first time that I've had a bad response to antidepressants, but it was the worst. Since I came off the medication I have been rapid cycling. Really not fun. Now I've been pu...

Gizalba, I am in a very similar situation to you. I have never officially been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, but the suspicion of it has followed me around with health professionals for the last 15 years. It is extremelly frustrating. Psychologists tell me that there is no way that...

For those who have found Seroquel helpful, what dose are you on? I understand there is a huge range of possible dosages for this med, depending on what it is being used for. For me, most helpful Seroquel and Avanza (but only because it helped me sleep, nothing else). Least helpful SSRIs and Effexor....

I need some advice from anyone who has been diagnosed with both aspergers and bipolar. I have a very confusing mental health history that has just got even more confusing lately. A couple of months ago I was hospitalised for 4weeks. I had begun taking Lexapro 3 weeks earlier, specifically to treat O...

Angnix, I have also been referred to a DBT program. They have acknowledged that my ER issues are not stemming from Borderline Personality Disorder (which is what the program is usually used for) but that the program should be very useful anyway for anyone with ER problems. I learn best in very struc...

Thank you so much Raziel, that is great info. I am always surprised to see so little discussion here about everyone's daily quality of life. There is so much to discuss beyond shutdowns and meltdowns. I don't even know how to explain the more or less constant level of distress. Thanks again, I'll ge...

I am having similar confusion and contradicting view points of therapists. I have a lot of trouble regulating my emotions. In a the space of a few hours I can have many extreme emotions that I generally can not relate to any real-life events. My sensory overload, restlessness, energy, irritability, ...
