As George Carlin so nicely put it:

A business transaction is a situation where two guys are talking, and they are both trying to screw the other guy as hard as they possibly can. :)

(I saw it once in one of his performances, and I can't remember it close enough to quote it accurately.)

I've been obsessed with stuff through different periods of my life. When I was a kid, it was mostly quite innocent stuff, like dinosaurs, LEGO blocks, or four-leaf clovers. I had plastic sleeves with thirty or so four-leaf clovers. Also three five-leaf clovers, and a seven-leaf clover. When I starte...

I think we have all been touched by the stories of people surviving cancer, and who got stronger from the experience. It's an ideal image, sort of like Stephen Hawking in his wheel chair. You seldom hear about the people suffering anxiety, PTSD, depression and stuff like that after having gone throu...

(Was this supposed to be a simple reply-post, or did you actually want to start a new thread?) Anyway, as for me, I had brain surgery when I was 14 (I am 27 now). It was a rather horrible experience, first the diagnosis of a brain tumor, and the surgery and aftermath was a terrible ordeal. I was unc...

Hang out here for a while! Give it a few weeks, and I promise you will find people with similar life stories.

Try to find out what's making you depressed. It's never the item or event in and of itself, but how you react to it.

Why need real physical brains? I would think using MRI and/or EEG instead. Get samples from living thinking brains instead of dead ones. After all, it's what our brains are doing when we're alive that makes us autistics or not. When we're dead I doubt you will recognize an autistic brain from an NT'...

No, but I have been treated for a brain tumor back when I was 14-15 (I'm 27 now). It was removed through surgery, turned out to be benign, and I was deamed cured. I have been on regular check-ups with MRI scans and tests on visual capacity. It has been a while since my last one, and the next one is ...

1. I think you may be asexual... Not said to my face, but thought to myself quite often 2. It must be very hard to be you...you always want things to be fair, and life just isn't fair... Many times, as I get upset about pretty much every injustice or selfish act I witness 5. Can you stop obsessing ...

This pretty much sums it up. Allthough it has been said countless times before, it is worth hearing over and over, until you transform your worldview for yourself.

I am pretty much under the impression that there is no objective part of our being. Everything is subjective. Listen to this rather deep and difficult teaching by the buddha, called "The roots of everything", it's about an hour in length: http://www.bswa.org/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?cid=10&...
