Similar problems here and have not found a way to make myself more proficient. I did try various recovery-methods though, some of them more useful than others.. When you have not been introduced (or you have forgotten about it) and you sit next to them for a week, then it is best not to do the "Hi I...

Misdirected motivation.. hmm yes I think I know what you mean. Sometimes I dread an upcoming task so much that I stress myself out and need to focus on something completely different. If it is bad, I typically get lost in a computer game. If it is really severe, my mind locks up and I sit and stare....

I am a programmer too and recognize myself in your post. I think our neurology makes it easier for us to program, but work is about alot more than just programming. I believe I am lucky having an insightful supervisor, who piles a large amount of tasks for me to work on. Together we figured out cate...

The 24h and quiet_time_of_the_day advice worked well for me. Still there is the risk of people bumping into you and those surprise visits from tourists/families that decide to have their social chicken-house hour right in front of the products you need. I tried to forget about all the etiquette rule...

I have not yet seen software that I would want to use for this purpose, so I cannot recommend a certain package alas. But what has been working for me is just an editor and spreadsheet program, which both do not cost anything and are easy to use. It looks like you are already aware of the bottleneck...

Anger and frustration can lead you to that hopelessness. I have given up a couple of times.. thought it would be better for everybody and myself to just have zero contact. I sat in my house alone, I went to my work, tried very hard, said the wrong words, worked even harder, went home and sat some mo...

Last weekend I had an experience that I would like to share. Went with family to small airport with glider planes. Since I can be afraid of heights and I am going through alot of inner turmoil at this moment, I indicated that I had no wish to participate. I would just come along for company and enjo...

Say you are about to approach someone and you start thinking about their possible reactions, you have to consider if some of this possibilities are logical and how many times have you seen those happen before assuming the worst situation is going to happen. For me putting this extra analysis on top...

I am pondering the value <-> performance relation. People always told me I "can do anything" and I have been successful in various measurable tasks. I guess that helped me put my acceptance-baseline rather high. It also gave me this proud feeling. I aced those tests, I am good. I won that thing, I a...

I witness my internal processing as a control system (I like SCADA ). The whole thing is divided in subsections and there is correlations and dynamics. I cannot just say "oh let's make my input !a instead of a ", just because that would make me less troubled. I cannot create meaningless inverters ou...

I'd love to figure out how to have an answer to these things before they start embedded deep enough that I rectify it before it happens. That would be most efficient; I find it really difficult though. Usually I am only aware of what is going on when my mind is going full speed towards the ravine. ...

Thank you for this thread, I recognize alot in it. The wishes, passion, limitations and realizations. I used to be on this quest to find my place in this world. Wanted to study theoretical physics and went to talk to university. They advised I would go the teacher-route. I did not know what to say. ...

I really wish I could afford to live away from all the noise. I can also hear many of these sounds over my own music that I'd like to play without the background noises. It sucks. I tried to get occupational therapy but was told I am too old. so how does one cope with all this stuff? I have noise c...

I recognize the slap in the face effect and then did as questor suggested: sought distraction. For me that is a short-term solution. My initial reaction is based on something within me, and that something does not change or go away with beers or entertainment. The distractions do help to bridge time...
