I tend to concentrate first on being hygienic. If a visitor expresses an intention to arrive tomorrow, the first thing I do after getting off the phone or reading the email is head to the bathroom and pick up the Bathroom spray and attack the bath, toilet and sink. I try to get rid of uneaten food a...

Indeed, as others have suggested, I think NT was a term invented by people on the spectrum to describe people who generally speaking don't have Autism type issues. I think there can be stereotypical NTs in the same way that there can be stereotypical Aspies. If I see a group of lads round town on a ...

Just a thought but how about joining a walking group? I've done that and there are a lot of people who spend a lot of time walking without chatting to anyone, but it could be a gentle way into getting to know someone. Lifts tend to be arranged. Maybe you could go along with a support worker. People ...

If you speak your mind and need to say something negative to someone, its always good if you can do it to actually start and end with positive statements. Eg, "I had a really good time on Saturday night. I'll admit I don't particularly appreciate it when you turn up at my home unannounced, but you a...

Recently I learnt how to Nordic walk. Its like a cross between normal walking and ski-ing and uses poles. There are a range of techniques and it keeps you fit and is enjoyable too, especially if done with others. This video shows you what it looks like.

I've met well over 100 Aspies and in my experience can't say that natural Aspie hair looks any different at all to natural PNT hair. However, sometimes you might encounter someone with messier than average hair, but not that often.

I can be slightly hit and miss with eye contact. In situations that I understand and am the listener, its usually not a problem to make, but if I'm the speaker, it can be very hard to make it or if I'm trying to recall lots of facts. Its as if the facts are in an imaginary cabinet off in the other d...

I think that there are all sorts of positive things about Aspergers. Many of us are extremely knowledgeable on a specific topic, and this some Aspies can really create a great niche for themselves with this, but what I especially like is Aspie-like attention to detail. In one job I had we had to kee...

I find this very irritating when browsing. If its an electronics store, I'm probably not going to actually buy anything since its very expensive, but its if if you are expected to be mindful to come out with a much lighter wallet. I once said "I'll probably not actually going to make a purchase toda...

I'm not really sure about my natural walking. I probably sometimes look at the ground but apart from that walk normal as far as I know. I make a point to look as normal as possible to avoid ridicule by 'rude boys', and it seems to work. When Nordic walking my instructor always tells me that my right...

Thanks for the welcomes :D Welcome! :) I like walking, too but never tried Nordic Walking until now. Do you like it more than usual walking or not and why? Hmm, well its probably to early to say for sure, but its real fun. You enjoy it because its not that hard after a few lessons, you're usually ou...

I'm thinking this is just a quirky thing, and not really an Aspie thing----though, the thing that "drives" it might be neurological, idk. I used to almost always think in song lyrics----like, if someone said they had a "splendid" time, I would automatically think of "Love is a Many Splendored Thing...

I've lived alone for nearly 10 years alongside holding a full-time job down. Its not especially easy. Usually I'm burnt out on Saturdays, then Sunday is my leisure time, making it often a real balancing act to do chores that need doing and stuff can pile up. When I find the time and energy, I can ma...

I've been lurking on here for years, with being very busy, but finally making a post. I'm in my 40's, and after the usual difficulties with seeking/maintaining work, have been with my current company for nearly 10 years. I do a lot of database and spreadsheet work mostly loosely around the area of Q...
