Oh, yeah. I had a chem teacher in high school who not only didn't know what he was talking about, he was crazy. He would do things like assign us numbers and refuse to call us by anything else one week, and then act perplexed the next over why we were heading our papers with numbers instead of names...

It sounds like dropping the stories would be a good place to start. My guess is that B is perfectly aware of what others consider appropriate classroom behavior, whether or not she is conforming, and therein lies the reason she finds them patronizing. So far as the chair-rocking goes, is it possible...

The traditional classroom is tantamount to torture for a lot of aspies, especially those of us who are well ahead of grade level. Being told to sit there quietly and nearly motionless when our stims are sometimes the only way to bleed off some of the excess of what we're feeling, being told we have ...

If you haven't ever had this come up before when someone has touched you, then my guess would be that either she misread your normal body language or had some cultural misconceptions. If someone else has reacted similarly, then you might want to pay some attention to it, but otherwise... *shrug* Pro...

I will not lie to you like annoying people who write responses along the lines of, "Oh it will be alright, you can stay the same as you are currently and you'll be fine". Such people are trying to be nice but I think their well-intended comments are actually unrealistic and damaging. o_O Who said t...

"Art" isn't usually profitable without specialization. Specific fields of it can be, though -- do you have a talent for drawing? Medical illustration pays quite well, and depends on both fine attention to detail and creativity. Technical writing also pays very well, and is doubly profitable if you h...

I wouldn't say I was pushed, but I was in a review situation where I felt it was prudent to mention it. My bosses were somewhat surprised...I think they'd just pegged me as awkward and a little odd...but I feel mentioning it was the right decision, as they have tactfully help me avoid a couple of po...

I work retail at the moment, which is like a gold mine for stupid people stories. Among my favorites are the lady who bought a product in 1988 and tried to return it a couple of years ago...and argued that she should be able to because she kept the original receipt; the endless stream of customers w...

I'm just asking because usually the women I know who give the sort of advice you've given are older. I agree with what you said, but it doesn't make dating that much easier when you're in your twenties, those are often the shallow years for many people  No, it doesn't. People in their twenties...

 you seem angry. If she wants to get jealous or pissed off that is her decision. I'm guessing my post pissed you off because you're a female, but to be honest girls do stuff like this to people constantly except ten times worse so I don't see the harm in enjoying pissing off a girl who spurned...

I've never known a woman who cared that much about height. However, many are turned off by guys who are constantly worried about their girlfriends being taller than them. No woman wants to have to slouch all the time to avoid hurting her date's ego. It seems like a lot of guys around here narrow dow...
