But he/she has no interest in helping the bully (if the senario was even a true story) but just gives up. Their real intent here was not to defend bullies or their victims but to defend teaching in the most insensitive manner possible.

It's when you invent an argument (strawman) that is easy to knock down instead of dealing with the issue at hand. For instance "you are all on a witch hunt and I'm not going to defend myself:"

Some teachers are decent people and reach out to those from troubled backgrounds. Some are only interested in the popularity contest and add to the problems of victims. Whatever. Take your pro-teacher agenda and stick it wherever. I'm not interested.

I take your point that punishment might be merely adding to the trauma and abuse he receives at home. If this bully looks thin and hungry why doesn't any teacher give him something to eat? Or be a friend and mentor? Maybe if he had more positive influences and proper care he might not scar some othe...

I misunderstood the question maybe? There was an experiment with mice which suggested there was potentially a slight inheritable iq advantage. There is no concrete evidence that iq is biological.

It could be biased to a particular mindset. Also it's a range of subjects. If there was a purely mathematical test someone might have the highest iq but not so well on purely verbal iq test. What if there was a street gangster iq? Or spiritual iq? Or wisdom quotient test? Or creative iq? Or emotiona...

Not really. A lot of the times it's fine. Sometimes people can be really cruel and abusive. It wears you down. I think learning how to deal with that would help. |
