Definitely. Is it because I'm projecting the wrong non-verbal cues that tell them to ignore me? Not sure at all. I find that it doesn't matter what comes out of my mouth. It can be as bland as today's weather or as bizarre as poop-powered space elevators, but there's very little response, especially...

I got bitten by the neighbor's dog too. I hated that creature. It was hideous and barked at me and chased after me every time it saw me. I was scared of dogs for most of my childhood. But now I really like both cats and dogs.

I also hate all of bars, night clubs, and drinking. I have friends who always want to dress up purrrrrrrty and go clubbing. Ick. I know people who consider drinking the end-all be-all of social interaction. Some bars have event nights, like trivia pursuit tournaments on the same night every week. Th...

I'm wondering if anyone else had this specific experience in early childhood: When I was three, I went to a preschool where I never interacted with any of the children or any of the teachers. One of my clearest memories is wandering around a big room where the other kids played with each other or th...

despite the fact that she is certain I'm not autistic A lot of people's parents seem to have issues believing that their adult child is autistic. Perhaps they have a misunderstanding of the condition and make it out to be something extremely horrible and don't want that for their child? I have a bi...

Unless I'm working on an engine, or a theory for an engine I'm constantly noticing everything around me. But once I get my head going or hands wrenching even a freight train passing 3 inches from my face at 100mph wouldn't sway my attention. Me too. Before I came here and read about the sensory stu...

Your Aspie score: 181 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 13 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

My personal favorite question was whether I think about peeling flakes off myself and others. I didn't used to think about this, but I do now. 8)

I used to ask people why they moved up and down so much when they walked next to me. Um, I guess it could have been me and not everyone else who was moving up and down a lot? I like it though. It's springy and fun.

Even before I really knew about AS, I had a strong suspicion that there was something fundamentally different about me, and behavioral psychology can't deal with that.

Yes, I think of behavioral psychology as an "outside in" approach. I feel like I think differently from the "inside out".

The first, is that I informed her of my inability to understand the motivation or drive behind status, pecking-order and hierarchy, and that these things meant nothing to me. Exactly. These things mean nothing to me either. Yesterday, I was telling my therapist that my favorite conversational thing...

She also thought that my employer would respond to a DX by putting me into a little room on my own. LOL. This is what I dream of on a daily basis. If only. I wish to both live and work in this same room called "The Labartment". And have a defense perimeter in place to reject intruders of the unsche...
