CDC's new rape study is out. Survey of thousands and thousands of people, statistically significant. Responses are anonymised, no one shows up at the door, no reason not to believe it's accurate. Their numbers: 19.1% of American women have been raped at one time or another during their lives; 1.7% o...

Yes. Yes it does imply that you are going to pay. You ask for the date. You pay for the date. It doesn't have to be an expensive date. It is simply not the same social context as going with your mate to the pub. You take the RISK of carrying the whole cost of the date. If she offers to pay her shar...

Sez you, kk, you're not the one raising the kid. I've seen what some parents go through and there are days when, as hard as my grind is, I'm deeply, deeply grateful not to be in their situation. OP: Yes, there is a greater risk for you than for the general population. Autism is not, however, rare at...

The other thing is this. If you're that worried about being falsely accused, then perhaps you'd better start working to educate people on consent, how not to rape, and how to intervene when a situation looks bad. One of the biggest problems in rape/DV education is that guys shrug and think it's not ...

Just out of curiosity, how many times do we have to do the "in fact nearly all rape charges are substantiated, no, it's not about vengeful women just trying to f**k men over" show? I always wonder what other tinfoil-hat conspiracies the people who bring this stuff up get exercised about, and why th...

my guess is that somebody like the perp with his history of rape, should have been DNA tested to match the rape kit. If that's going to be the standard, there'll have to be provisions for actually making sure the rape kits get analyzed timely. There are cases all over the country of rape kits just ...

It's a problem at all the universities. They're all desperate for money (admittedly their idea of 'desperate' is different from most people's) and top students/faculty, so they've started spending gargantuan sums on PR and advertising. Rape, bad PR. They also have to report sexual assaults, and many...

You?ve already made it abundantly clear that, in order to be marginally safe, a man has to assume ?no? means ?no?, ?yes? means ?no?, too, and any kind of close contact with a woman means ?watch out, because, from now on, I can choose to ruin your life any time I want to by claiming you took advanta...

There's a young woman at Columbia University who's got an interesting bit of performance art going; it's to do with the fact that her rapist was never dismissed from campus. Apparently she'd not reported the rape until she met two other girls who'd also been raped by the same guy, and the university...

Oh, definitely! And I completely understand the "geared to a younger crowd" thing. I heard a few days ago from the ex-bf -- he's gotten a decent yearlong government job, which is great. Very good news. But it was amazing how urgently I just wanted to get off the line with him, both because it was cl...

Date more sensible women. Seriously. There are many women who enjoy being treated like human beings and who aren't out to play dating games. And who know what lawyers and student debt are. The PUA stuff is garbage., To be clear, I do not say that *all* women buy into the stereotypes and games in al...

How then do you explain all the over-50s dating sites, or the fact that physically disabled people date? Or people dating smokers? Again, you've got biological theories going hunting among the forest of facts. Where one eye catches another, people will date. And if they understand each other and see...

Wow that's way more dangerous lololol! Even telling someone to hold back doesn't guarantee they will - esp someone who has fighting skills. Please forgive me for saying. I don't know if this is an aspergian trait or just me but I say things as they are to me and may come across as rude or undiploma...
