Thanks again everyone. To be clear, when I say I want to be more honest and open about my personal problems, I mean that I want to open up more to the people closest to me, such as my parents, but not everyone I know. I will take it slow though, so thanks for that advice. When I see a psychologist I...

Thanks for your replies. I appreciate all your thoughts and advice. It did feel good to write about it here, so I think I'll say a few more things. The problems I'm talking about are basically my social problems such as my difficulties getting a job, making friends, dating, or having conversations. ...

I like to fix my life's problems on my own without help from anyone and I'm so secretive that I never tell people about my problems even if they ask. I just keep it to myself and I keep thinking that things are going to get better, but they never do. I've tried to get my life on track again and agai...

This happens to me all the time, but I've found it worse if there are a lot of people around. With just one or two people around I can speak clearly most of the time, but at a big party I become such a "mush mouth," I can barely speak. I'm not sure if it's stress/anxiety, over-stimulation, or what, ...

It's so easy to get stuck in the idea that there is only one girl and you could never love anyone else, but it's not true. There are many others out there who want and need to be loved. This girl must have been very special to you, but you must not take your life over her. You are so young and have ...

Why must people keep questioning me about getting a job? "So, how's the job hunt going?, " they ask when they know full well it's going nowhere. I think they have this idea that bugging me about it is going to spur me on and inspire me or something, but it doesn't. It just makes me feel depressed an...

I'm 31 and I still do this sort of thing. I never intend to stop either because it is so fun to just let my imagination take over for a while. I can let the adult persona go and enjoy who I really am.

@TTRSage

Thank you, that's very interesting. :) I'll definitely do some reading on John Lilly.

To me, It would seem more likely that the person asking for the gum is the one with bad breath. For someone to expect me to think that I have bad breath based on them wanting gum or a mint for themselves seems a bit much to ask. I'm not the best at interpreting this stuff though, so maybe your husba...

Yeah, I think I know what you mean, kind of. My emotions change so rapidly sometimes and I feel like I have no control over it so I get frustrated with myself. I think about how good I felt when I first woke up and I just want to go back to that and so I get angry at the whole situation. I wish I co...

Learning to operate the vehicle combined with having to think about everything happening on the road, combined with my spatial and directional difficulties made learning to drive a huge challenge for me. Learning any new process is difficult for me, but this one was even more so because there is so ...

I prefer being in charge. If I'm making the decisions, there is little question how the day is going to go. Things are done orderly and sensibly. If someone else is in charge, I lose control and the work becomes stressful. At my old job, I was in charge of my department whenever my supervisor wasn't...

Yes. I can be slow and lack wit in conversations, and was bullied sometimes because of it. I think it's important for you to remember that you are not the one with the problem here. You are who you are and there is nothing wrong with that. The bully is the one with the problem. He's trying to bring ...

I was diagnosed with it as a child, and they called it "severe dyscalculia" (or something like that). I was in special ed classes for it all through school. I never did learn the multiplication table, but I've got a fairly sophisticated method of counting on my fingers. College math was the worst, b...

Is pacing back and forth a stim?

I pace constantly and I often do it outside in my back yard. I find it relaxing and soothing. I'm sure the neighbors must see me doing it, but I don't care.

When I was in high school I didn't know what cliques were, let alone separating people into groups like "jocks," "nerds," etc. When I heard labels like that I heard them as individual things describing individual people. I'm not sure when I picked the idea of cliques up, probably in my early 20s wh...
