Thanks everyone for your replies! My mother is supportive, but she just doesn't think I have Asperger's syndrome. I finally saw someone today, but he also was adamant that I probably don't have Asperger's. He decided not even to go for the diagnosis when he reviewed my LD problems that he had diagno...

I had really bad chronic headaches in high school, and I even had to repeat a year for them. It took forever to find a medicine that works for me. Right now I take Elavil daily, and Maxalt whenever I feel a headache coming on. It's important to take Maxalt BEFORE the headache starts really rolling o...

I was diagnosed with this a few years ago. The doctor gave me melatonin, but it took two months to shift my sleep schedule back. I think part of what helped with the diagnosis was that Ambien didn't do anything for me. I'd take it and still be wide awake at two in the morning.

Maybe this is another suggestion that I could have Asperger's? When I was having sleep troubles, Ambien did nothing. My doctor gave me a small dose of Melatonin, and it put me out like a light.

@OP: In all honesty, I really don't see much of what you wrote standing out as autistic. You just seem sensitive and intelligent to me. If your parents are doctors and seeing you as normal, that might be a good indication that you are. People who have high IQ's are likely to be more sensitive than ...

I read Anthem , Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged all in a month. I went through a phase where I was obsessed with Objectivism (not in the sense that I necessarily believed in it, but that I was fascinated by it). I then read a biography on Ayn Rand ( Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American R...

To start: I haven't been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (I'm thinking of seeing someone this summer about it); it's possible that I might just have Social Anxiety Disorder. But, I feel like I am normal when I am not around other people. I don't feel terribly different or strange. It's just me in...

I want to be a doctor. I think figuring out interesting diagnosis and helping people could be a fulfilling profession. Plus, I'm a science nerd, so I'll love all the schooling. :)

Wow, sorry guys! I went to bed after I posted this because the people on my hall left for some dance (thus leaving me with a small window of quiet to fall asleep). Thank you for your comments. I will readily admit that right now, within the last few months, I have not been trying hard enough. But, y...

Hi. I'm a freshman in college, and a few months ago I told my mother that I thought I might have AS. I seem to match up with a lot of the traits. Because I was crying when I told her, she took me seriously but basically said, "I was shy like you, and I didn't have any friends in my first two years o...
